Have you ever hit the old MacGregor Tourney PT3 "recessed weight" with copper face?

Yep I have a set of PT-2s "recessed weight" with the copper faces. Original Pro Pel 2 shafts. 2 thru 9 actually found them in one of the bins at work along with a 58 Mac Ironmaster offset putter. That was the irons in the set when I played the "all Scrap Pile" bag a couple of months ago. Shot 80 from the mid tees at Founders Club in Pawley's Island SC with them. That was the bag of clubs I played that I had less money in than most of the tourist golfers had in 2 Pro Vs brand new. Love those things. Would have them in the bag today but some back problems have crept up for me recently trying to hit stiffer shafts. So today I have my Franken Macs as Mitchell calls them in the bag. That Apex 2 is a little softer shaft and I do not have to swing as hard. I am seriously thinking about putting a set of matched R-300s I have in a set of scrapyard Snake Eyes Forged irons. I think they will hit really well for me with the R-300s

 

That haul I got that I posted in the other thread I think you probably saw? I found a set of those Mac PT2's ( not PT3 it turns out ). 1-pw. I left them there, but I think I will grab them. They're not in the best shape and need to be regripped. I had them set aside, but felt guilty enough with everything I already had loaded in the truck!

So my new project has been on hold due to life. LOL. I'm going to pull the shafts on the 62-63 Turfriders this weekend. Next week I'm taking them to get stripped raw. Then I will bore out the hosels for .355 taper tip shafts (Nippon 1050 GH stiff hard stepped). I may torch them, etc, but leaning toward just keeping them raw and letting them rust. I will lead tape them to bring the swing weight back up. Also planning on using minimal red silicone for the fluid feel plug as I want to add most of the weight back low and towards the toe. These irons were already very playable and pretty forgiving for a vintage blade. They should be even better when I'm finished with them. They certainly will look cool!!!! Hoping to have this project finished in about a month.

I just picked up a set of 1971 Wilson Dynapowers that I’m eventually going to reshaft after I get them refinished (the grooves especially need some work). But I can’t wait to hit them.

I'm a Hogan man through and through - so my favourite irons, with which I play every dag (almost) are a set of 2-E 1999 Hogan Apex, reshafted with KBS Tour C-Taper regular shafts - and it works like a dream

I just had a set of KARSTEN II irons re shafted with TT XP 95 soft stepped twice not really sure yet if it was worth the money or the improvement. 5 thru W.
