Tried Odyssey Stroke Lab 7s, EXO 7s, and EXO mini 7s all today

Got a chance to try the models above today on the practice green as I am trying to settle on one and wanted to offer my opinions. I like all the models but to me, the stroke lab 7s was the winner. The EXO models also had the stroke lab shaft but felt like they were slightly harder to square up than the SL 7s, and tended to be open when just set on the ground. It could be that the difference in weighting contributed to this feel. The EXO mini7 had a nice head size but I did not like the closed metal frame where one bar goes from wing to wing of the 7s model.

 

Distance control and holed putts from various lengths and breaks all seemed more consistent with the SL model compared to the EXO models with SL shafts.

 

I do like the EXO color schemes better than the yellow/black look of the Stroke Lab putters but, the overall feel off the putter face (even through inserts are the same) and results make the Stroke Lab 7s the winner for me. Curious if anyone had similar experiences.

The EXO 7 mini and marxman roll open severely when grounded. It really surprised me and left an immediate negative impression. I know you can hold them square with just a little tension, but there are so many good putters these days that set up well I just wouldn’t bother. The regular 7s was the clear winner to me too if you’re looking for a 7.

This was what I noticed as well, the 7mini looks good but it turns open when sat on the ground and feels like it could be inconsistent strike to strike.

I have the regular EXO 7s and a SL 7s. Was thinking of trying the mini 7s but now i think I will just picked between these 2 after I put them head to head on real greens. This thread saved my $400 probably

Yeah I didn't like the mini as much as I thought I would. seems nice but definitely open biased and doesn't seem as balanced to me.

Also noticed the “openness” of the Mini 7s EXO when I checked them out today. Regular stroke lab Mini 7s sat square as could be. Tried to sole it as flat as I could so it’s not a lie thing. Strange.

Agreed, liked the look and feel of the SL EXO 7 Mini but it going open at address was a turn off.

I tired the EXO 7S and the SL 7 at the local store and really liked the EXO. Had no issues with squaring it up as I’m coming from an Odyssey 9. Felt great and held its line very easy. The SL seemed like I struggled to get it to the hole. I tried the new TM Spider, Ping and a few other designs that were similar in shape. Ended up getting the EXO 7S. Now I just need a nice day to get out and test it on the course. Putting green and indoor are fine but I need to test it with something on the line.

I bought the exo mini 7, and really enjoyed the last two rounds with it. Fees great, good balance, putted better then with Spider x.

 

From a face opening issue, I noticed it on the store green, but had none of the same dynamics on the course or actual putting green.
