Pinehurst Resort/ Area

Is the last week in June considered "offseason" in Pinehurst? Wife and I are headed down to Harbour Town that week but wanted to stop off for 2 nights in the Pinehurst area. Her parents used to live there and they moved prior to the 1999 U.S. Open, so it has been a LONG time since we've been back. Since I'm already paying to stay at the SeaPines resort and playing Harbour Town, I don't want to push my luck and have to stay at Pinehurst to sneak a round in. I don't need to play #2. Heck, I'd settle for #5 or #6.

I ask about it being the "offseason" because I'm curious as to what a rate could possibly be to play 1 of those? According to the website I have to wait until I'm 5 days out, although if it is the offseason, maybe they don't set that rule in stone?

Thanks in advance.

In my mind that's offseason. Prime season is spring and fall, when the weather is a little cooler. I'm sure you can find someplace nice to play, if not at the resort then at MidPines or Pine Needles

I looked at Tobacco Road and Pine Needles. I forgot about Mid Pines! Thanks.

MidPines is my personal favorite in that area, even though I have a condo at Talamore, and play there and MidSouth more than any other course. You might also consider Dormie Club while you're in town. Where are you planning to stay, at the resort, or at one of the other places in town? I know the Magnolia Inn has changed hands, so have no idea what its like now, but my wife and I had a nice weekend there a decade back. The Pinecrest has always intrigued me as a place to stay.

Since the final destination of our trip is Harbour Town, Pinehurst is more of a lay over (coming from NJ) so we were actually going to be cheap about it and just stay at a Days Inn or something in Southern Pines. Looking at 2 nights, Saturday and Sunday evening. Leave around Noon on Monday and be in Harbour Town around 4.

Ok guys bumping this thread as I’m going to the Carolinas next week for 12 days. Splitting the trip in Pinehurst which is planned already but now spending five days in Charlotte, about ten minutes from the airport. Any recommendations would be great. From a quick search I found Ballantyne and eagle chase as possible courses. Thanks in advance

Is this a golf trip or are there other reasons for going to Charlotte? If golf only, why did you choose Charlotte?

Charlotte area - Verdict Ridge, Red Bridge, Eagle Chase, Monroe Country Club (its public). The problem is, none are in Charlotte itself. Tillery Tradition which is about in the middle of Charlotte and Pinehurst is a good track as well.

I'm headed to Pinehurst this Thursday and staying through Sunday...stopping at Tobacco Road on the way in. That being said, currently I have fore caddies scheduled for our #2 and #4 rounds. I definitely plan on keeping it for #2, but was wondering if it is absolute recommended for #4. If it's not, I may cancel. Open to suggestions and input. Thanks guys!
