At what point do you file paypal dispute?? Beware seller barksdal87

So Ive done many transactions on this board and never had a single issue. Long story short on Monday, July 30th I bought and paid for a shirt from a member that I had dealt with before. I paid through paypal and did not use Friends and family. The next week on Tuesday, August 7th I realized I never received tracking and the shirt had not arrived so I PM'd the seller asking if he had the time to get it out yet and to send tracking if he had. He read my message Wednesday August 8th but never responded, so I gave it a few more days and on Saturday August 11th I sent another PM stating it had been almost two weeks and the shirt hadn't arrived, and asked if he could provide the tracking #. Now it's been a full two weeks, still no tracking and still no shirt. I generally give people the benefit of the doubt and we're obviously talking about a shirt and not a big ticket item, so it's more about the principal than anything, but at what point do I just file a paypal dispute, leave negative feedback and close the transaction?

I sincerely apologize for my lack of communication on my sale. 2 days after the sale I had a work emergency that took me out of town for an extended period and due to the nature of the client, had limited access to communication. I just got home late Tuesday night and am catching back up on everything. I have sterling reputation with transactions in classifieds and promise this is an aberration. I had a perfect transaction with Chamgel less than 2 months ago. The lack of value of the item is not an excuse for poor communication and shipping speed.

 

As I mentioned to them, this is an aberration. Very poor form on my part but I will work to repair my reputation. My apologies to all parties involved again.

It is all too easy to just dig your head in the sand and wait out the storm, but I personally have much more respect for you for your choice. FWIW, and I am probably in the minority here, but this shows enough character that I wouldn't hesitate to work with you in the future.

I agree.. as the buyer in this situation I applaud barksdal87 for coming on and owning up to the mistake. Since it’s been over 3 weeks now I’ve asked him to issue a refund so we can wash our hands of the situation and move on. As he said and I mentioned earlier, we had a previous transaction that was smooth as silk.

He also never responded to PayPal so they settled in my favor and issued a refund yesterday. I hate to advise against dealing with someone, especially since barksdal87 and I have had a smooth transaction before, but this failure to respond seems to be becoming a consistent issue with him. As he mentioned earlier, the “work emergency” happened 2 days after the transaction. The transaction happened on a Monday, most here would agree the item should have been on the way before the emergency even happened, or at worst he should have responded on one of the several occasions he visited the board during the silence. I appreciate the apology, but actions speak louder than words. In this case the action was silence.

Let me circle back and again apologize for our transaction several months back. Since then I have been the seller on over 5 items without issue and will not let what we ran into happen again. Sorry again for creating an unnecessary issue.
