MizunoPro 518 / MMC Question for US

Hey all, pulled the trigger on what I think is a good deal on some new JDM Mizuno heads over on the bay. That said, they're a little unlike anything I've seen so thought I'd bounce it off the group here to see if anyone has seen these. I've seen the JDM MizunoPro 518, and also the nearly identical US version Mizuno MP-18 MMC. Specs are identical, with the exception of the JDM having a layer of copper that is supposed to make it softer.

The ones that I saw and am waiting on shipping are apparently somewhere in between - they're labeled MizunoPro, and described as being the JDM with the copper layer, yet the badge over the titanium has the US label of MP-18 and MMC. Seller seems reputable and selling a lot of JDM stuff at high prices (e.g. JBEAM), so I don't suspect they're fakes. Anyone seen or have any experience with these?

Finally got these dialed in and was able to play 9 today. It's tough when you don't have anything to compare to side by side, but generally I loved them. Felt very soft. My other irons are Titleist VG-3, which I believe are forged in the beloved Endo house, and I think these are as soft or softer.

hope you enjoy them,,,

Oddly just tried them out at the local Bangkok range "All star" also tried the MP-18 SC (think it is)... even briefly hit the JPX 919 tour, which i'm not even sure why that exists but... odd.

I've not really demo'd any irons for years (really...) even though the range has Tourstage/Yamaha/Mizuno/RC/PRGR alomng with the usual suspects.

anyay... 'fortunately' :) i still far prefer my Epon 301's for feel and the ball flight was nicely higher too (not too high but I'm usually tend to a bit on the low side) - i've Nunchuk XI shafts in my irons and the Mizuno fitting cart 6 iron heads were in PX 6.0 and 5.0 shafts.

The Mizunos were fine ( I played Mizuno TP-21's for 8+ years and loved them...) but certainly harsher than the Epons - but to be fair this was comparing glued in Epons vs the Mizuno quick change cart hosel thingy - which incidentally is great.

Especially when I also decided to bite the bullet and try the Ping iBlade - had some S-59s at one point - and the Ping quick fit hosel is hilariously crude looking compared to the Mizuno.

both those Mizunos had a surprisingly thick top line ( not excessive but comparatively), and very squared off edges - the Ping may even be same top line width (don't carry a Vernier caliper in my bag) but is nicely rounded off so looks better from that aspect.

Kind of relieved my epons won out easily... but just reminds me I should have ordered a backup copper chrome set (302s perhaps) when I had the chance...

some pics of Mizuno vs Epon 301 ( mmc Miz is the leftmost)

top line - also longer hosel on the Epon, very similar look to the heel top line transition

It's very hot over here

You could make a very, very nice blended set with the Mizunos... and add some Flihi too (the demos they had only were with NS Pro shafts which really don't work for me at all).

Thanks for posting that, although feels like cheating a bit to compare to that sweet copper chrome finish on the Epons.

Love seeing the relative size with them side by side. I always have a hard time comparing feel or size if I'm not able to hit them right together or look at them like that. I haven't had a chance to hit Epons but from my experience with other Endo stuff I'm sure they're every bit as good as you (and a lot of others) say.
