I thought distances were short in the early morning. Very foggy. I’m accustomed to more of the older boys popping it out well over 250. That didn’t really happen.

As for the “luck”, you could say that about any sport. Still fun to watch talent.

Yellow, I was impressed with the girl you refer to in the 10-11. A bit of a heartbreaker to the girl she beat, who won the regional where my daughter competed. But man, holing out two putts, that’s just clutch.

Make it to Augusta vs. win Worlds? Win Worlds.

Make it to Augusta vs. just go to Worlds? Augusta all day.

I can only imagine what that experience at Augusta must be like so it would be very tempting but winning is winning.

Watching the DCP it didn't seem as though there was much roll unless someone hit a low screamer. Even the kid who popped out out there 260+ only had 4-5 yards of roll. The ground could have had dew from the morning fog.

I see what you are saying, but I think it is just very cool how DCP is nationally televised and the kids get airtime. The winner of Worlds only matters that day and during the parade the following year. lol

Boys 14-15 teed off first, you couldn't even see the ball through the fog. Shortest off the tee in boys 14-15 (202 yd) was outdrove by the longest in 7-9 (204). Longest drive by boys was 246, in the early morning. Longest drive by girls was 245, later that day. Weather was definitely at play this year.

Think there was one guy in the 12-13 group, think his name was PJ and he was touching 270 with his best drive.

The most amazing thing was the number of kids who made both putts. So awesome to see!

Oh yeah, forgot about PJ. The holed putts were pretty cool.

Tiger I thought the distances for the girls 10-11 was right about what I thought it would be. The really good girls hit it 200 and have a swing speed of around 80mph. I see this routinely when my daughter plays in the bigger events with the top 10-11 year old girls. There are a few that hit it a little further than that but it’s not the norm. The few that hit it beyond 200 at that age are just really big for their age group.

My daughter, about to be 7, just asked me the following questions:

1. Does the chip have to go in the air? (Obviously wants to play to her strengths) I told her no it just needs to get close to the hole

2. Why don’t they just putt it then?

I had no response. I’m assuming there’s some kind of rule against using a putter for that shot, but does anyone know for sure? Like could the kids pull a hybrid or something to play a bump and run?

Glove: ML
Tees: 2 3/4
Towel: white
Repair tool: metal
Ball Marker: largest poker chip in the world
Iron headcovers: wait, what?

The feedback system is annoying

Can't use putter for the chipping portion but can use any other club.

There's definitely something more important that I should be doing.

In the past it always seemed like at least one of the kids in each age bracket hits it long. With 10-11 I could’t find last years results I was pretty sure the winner was well over 200 yards when it came to how long the drives were. In years past the winner of the driving part was on the longer side at least that was my impression.

All the yardages seems to be shorter too even with the boys. Maybe the setup was different this year. I think it was mentioned there was fog so maybe there wasn’t much roll. That would perhaps explain the results you see.
