Has anyone played it,what are your thoughts

Oyster Harbors is a fun course. It is a reasonably interesting design on a fairly mundane piece of land. It is an extremely well conditioned course, with very fast greens and nice fairways. The rough is almost always manageable. OH is a first class club--I have always enjoyed playing there.

I won't get a practice round is it straight forward no blind shots , thanks for commenting

Fairly straight forward. It's a difficult course, but actually one of those courses that is generally right in front of you (for the most part). There is NO OB at OH. You can technically play out of people's back yards if you can hop their fence! A couple of holes to worry about your first go around. 6 is a tough dog leg left where a big hitter can run out of fairway. Small green there given the size of the hole. 9 on the left side of your tee you can run out of land as well into water. 11 is a tough hole, super narrow fairway and a fairly long hole. The rest is fairly straight forward.

 

Greens are outstanding and conditioning is very good. Despite being on an island, you see very little of the bay as the course is on the interior of Big Island. I am guessing this is for some qualifier given your comment around no practice rounds? Good luck - is one of my favorites

Haven't played there in a few years but found it to be in terrific shape and fairly difficult. As a Donald Ross course it's a pretty nice layout too. The clubhouse was redone a few years ago and is really nice as well. Pretty exclusive private club too so you'll need an invitation to even get past the gate.
