Indoor Simulator Membership??

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have a simulator membership or something similar? Club bought a GC2 and have it setup to play courses, etc. It will be helpful in the winter months but can also use on rain days, etc

I would use more of the driving range mode. They do not have a membership/fee plan setup yet so I was curious to what others pay and what restrictions are in place? i.e. 2 hour use per day,etc

TIA

The course right by my office has a Trackman4 simulator that they just installed before this winter. They don't offer memberships for that but simulator time (practice mode) is $25/hr weekdays and $29/hr weekends. Note that those are CDN dollars.

Another course in town has HD Golf simulators which aren't nearly as accurate but they offered practice time for $20/hr.

I've been going twice a week to keep the boredom at bay and to keep the rust off and I'd say it was worth it. I went to the RTJ trail a couple of weeks ago and hit the ball solid and will be heading to Ireland next week with a swing that is in decent shape.

Both places require you to book time just like booking a tee time.

Member at a local indoor "club". Initiation was $175 and monthly dues are $75. Includes 24/7 access to facility and 2 hours per month. Any hours on top of the 2 are $35 an hour. Has a small putting green.

Worth it if you're a club tinkerer or if you like to keep swinging over the winter. Usually what happens is that I don't even sniff the place between April-November, so I rack up like 14 hours over the spring/summer, which more or less means I can go hit balls there every single week all winter.

I am finding though the set up they have is leaving a lot to be desired. They use Trackman, but I think the old version which doesn't give data on strike location. It's also very sketchy in terms of the numbers and flight it spits out because it tends to be different than what I see outdoors on the course. I also got fit using GCQ last year and the numbers were all pretty different than at my club. I think the rooms they use aren't big enough and it causes misreads which is starting to get a little annoying. Mostly happens with longer/faster clubs... pitch shots, etc tend to be very accurate, but driver is not.

Now that I have a regular coach and the means to hit balls at home, I may consider canceling my membership. I'm starting to tinker less and less and if the data I get is questionable, I'm not sure I see the point anymore other than being able to play simulated courses (which I still can as a non-member for something like... $60 an hour).

  • 2 years later...

There's a club in the St. Louis area called the Gimme Golf Club. They have a clubhouse with 3 bays (Trackman sims...the 3rd bay just got completed) with membership options, and bay availability open to the public on the weekends. They just opened the doors back in March. Really neat spot and concept. If you're ever in or rolling through the St. Louis area, you should check it out.

A local golf course purchase 3 simulators last winter.   They charged $600 for unlimited golf from November to March 31st.   All guests were free.   They were so busy that this year they raised the rate to $800 and charge $5 / guest.   It's still a great deal.   I played 70 times last winter and plan to play that much this winter.     The normal fees for non-members are $35 / weekday and $45 / weekend.
