Feel will probably be very subjective, but there are a lot of people that really enjoy a 1-piece forging. That said, yes, the Apex Pro Dot should be longer and more forgiving than the X-Forged, with the retail Apex Pro being even moreso. You could rank them like this:

Ball Speeds (fastest to slowest): Apex Pro 19 ---> Apex Pro DOT ---> X-Forged

Forgiveness (most to least): Apex Pro 19 ---> Apex Pro DOT ---> X-Forged

I'm sure they tested the loft gaps extensively and the 47* PW is consistent with what I would consider "modern" lofts with a 21* 3-iron progressing down to a 47* PW.

Correct, there is no face cup on the 8-PW in anything. The standard Apex Pro 19 in the 8-iron through attack wedge have face plates instead of cup faces, which should make it easier to flight approach shots down for improved control in the scoring clubs. The Dot version has the face plate in everything - no cup face in the 7-iron on down

Constant gaps and constant lofts don't always match up. They did it that way for a reason and it's not uncommon.

It is actually uncommon to have 38-42-**47** as loft for 8i-9i-pw. Look at other comparable irons:

JPX 919 Tour: 38-42-46;

AP2: 38-42-26;

P770: 37-41.5-46;

P790: 38-42.5-47;

Even Apex Pro 16 has 38-42-46 line-up. To me it is not justified that the "Dot" version creates such a bigger gap between 9i and PW. I would probably bend them to either 38-42.5-47 or 38-42-46 if I end up with a set.

Maybe you should let them know that their engineers and staff players dont know what they are doing. There's more at play than just loft numbers and people get far too concerned over exact gapping anyway as is evident by the ridiculous number of posters asking about 1 degree difference in wedges when they probably cant his the same spot twice in 10 shots.

Again, the lofts are what they are for a reason and vary based on several factors.

These came out just as I was ready to order some Apex Pros. Seems like the retail Apex Pros are like the AP3/ap2 combo without the offset and forged where the dot models are like ap2/cb combo. As a mid handicapper I went with the non dot heads as I need the extra forgiveness and I am a sucker for the smoke finish with black $ taper.

Thanks @easyyy

With everything I'm seeing, is there really a difference between the dot and the X Forged? Is the dot still multi material?

So 14 grooves (dot) vs 13 grooves.

Looks like slightly longer score lines in dot.

Doesn’t look like much appearance of offset difference because of the gloss (we know there is a difference anyway..)

What I can’t figure is why not just release one version of this club?

Or, why release the 2nd version 2 months after the initial launch. Wish they'd just put it all out there rather than withholding product.

Here is the 4 and pw pics as well.

I was told that these are what Xander is playing with a different finish.

I had one round with them today. Shot a 75 in some light mini tournament at my home club. They felt and sounded **NOTICEABLY** soft. I write that in all caps because it was black and white how soft they felt in relation to other one piece forgings (blade or player cb). Sound as well. I haven't bent them yet but @joey3108 has and said they are very soft "like the 2013 x forged soft" he said. That and you can see the mass behind the sweet spot. That must be translating in that solid feeling and sound.

There are small emblems in the cavity like the 13 x forged that must of help them tune the acoustics as well. I was just playing the JDM Bridgestone Tour B X-BL combo one piece forged irons. They are butter balls and these feel NOTICEABLY softer feeling and the muted sound more of a thud than a thump you can notice with ease. Showed up on the range, pulled the 7 iron and first hit was telling. Hit another and the same thing. Right through the set to same thud and soft solid feel. Just lovely.

The sole widths are a carbon copy of the 2013 x forged, and the newer AP2's. Wider than the JPX 900 tour. Same sole camber as the 13 x forged and not as much of a killed leading edge. Sharper.

The heel to toe lengths are a fraction shorter than the AP2's and the same as the 13 x forged. However the muscle in the cavity on these Apex Pro 19 dot irons are the biggest differences I see between the two Callaway sets. Softest feeling head I have felt in a long while.

ugh.. guess I'm going to have to order a set of these.

I have played 4 rounds with the apex pro 19 with the CF, and I still can't 100% get over the clickiness of the cup face. I miss that smother feeling. Now.. I need to figure out how to get my shafts into a set of these heads...

Also, I've never gamed a 47* PW. Seems like either 52/58 or 52/56/60 is the way to go, but 52/58 feels like it could be more comfortable (since all I really use for touch shots is the 54/60 that I have). What else do you put in the bag then?
