Just a (Not passive) Brag

Today was day 2 of the St. George Club Championship. I had a mediocre day one shooting +4, but it was good enough to be in the final group. Another guy and I were 3 shots back of the leader who we were playing with.

After the front 9 the other guys were tied and I was one back. We went back and forth the back 9 with the three of us trading birdies and eagles. Got to 18 and we were even. They both had bogies and I had a 3 foot par putt to win. The putt looked like 10 feet but happily I drained it for a -2 round and a one stroke win.

 

This is the same championship I won last year when I had a hole in one and eagle back to back, but this year it was even more satisfying as it was a dog fight to the final putt.

 

You’d think I was a pretty consistent player, but sadly last week in the Southgate club championship I shot an opening 85 (two triples) followed by a 79. I never know who is going to show up.

 

A buddy told me that we all have three distinct golf swings. First is our range swing which is normally pretty solid. Then our swing when we're playing routine rounds with our buddies. And finally our tournament pressure swing. It's rare when I can bring the first two swings to a tournament so I want to shout it out when I do.

I hit a couple buckets of range balls last week. It was around 50 degrees and my 9 iron was only going about 120 yards.

Congratulations, winning that way is sooo fun in retrospect...pressure and focus makes you give all you got. Glad it was enough that day :smile:

Now we’re glad we couldn’t make schedules work a couple years ago to have to join us, you would have taken all the money! (Not really, always welcome, hopefully next trip I make down there we can make it work). ?

No. The only web.com I know of in Utah is the Utah Championship held up north. This year it's at Oakridge CC in Farmington, UT.
