I actually game these, and I find the 3 iron in this set far more easy to hit than the 3 iron in my Ping i500s. It's so small, that it actually frames the ball incredibly nicely. My i500 3i (which is an inch longer and goes 20 yards longer by my setup design) feels like hitting it with a shovel, just chunky and clunky (though pure and straight).

I would kill for a baby blade 1i...

Having had a set of BBs, I agree with Buzz, they’re nice, though nothing special, and they didn’t touch my Staff 59s, which in a comparative photo with the Fg 100 MB, make the 100 blade look like a GI iron, lol.

The 59 Tour Blades are similar in size to the BBs however they have a crisper sound to em at impact, which I preferred.

Oh, about that 1i, FWIW, to even have a chance at hitting a 1i, ANY 1i, one must swing that iron at 106-108mph+, which most, myself included, did not(my driver speed was 108-109mph). The greatest obstacle to hitting a successful 1i isn’t mastering the lack of loft in the iron, it’s overcoming one’s inability to swing that iron fast enough to move it up & out, cept in one’s fantasies, lolol??

Guys singin about the Baby Blades remind me of guys chirpin about the old Mizzy 87s, lol. Having played two sets of 87s across 4+ years, while they were nicer than the TP-9s that they replaced, they couldn’t touch the 14s that booted em from the bag and in those 4+ years in the bag, and I Played across four states, I encountered exactly two other guys who had 87s in the bag, and one was an Oakmont CC Assistant, which was the first Pittsburgh based distributor for Mizzy in the tri-State area. You just didn’t see em cuz one, Mizzy had just recently started sellin golf clubs in the US in the mid 80s and secondly, they were a limited release iron, especially in the states, yet to hear everyone on the board tell it when they speak of the 87s, you’d think that that was THE most widely Played iron back in the day, lmao???

I loooove the place??

Richard. I’m all too familiar with the “59” as I get to look at the second set of protos made which are stamped so ..... I’ve watched a very skilled super senior pro destroy some young guys with them. Lol. Here’s a pic of the 1st set of protos made in the bag of DJ Trahan.

I really like the new look. Well it is either these or the Kyoei KK mb. I’ve played the baby blades so I know what I’m getting but the Kyoei KK are a mystery to me. A few threads about Kyoei but nothing about the KK MB. Need to place an order tomorrow guess I’m going to flip a coin to decide.

Kyoei is going to feel softer (esp. in the raw finish), Miura more "dense".

I’d buy the Kyoei in the black finish. But that’s just me. I’m a sucker for that grainy black finish only kyoei has. Plus they are simply the softest forgings made by man. No contest. ( somebody has a new set on the bst now by the way )

Well part of me regrets canceling my order of the tiger irons but for that kind of money i decided to go back to JDM. Plus I would have to pull shafts and reinstall them with spb. Order was placed for the KK. Had to take a chance with my first set off baby blades. I am looking forward to these with some super peening blues in them. Thanks hunter for pushing me over the ledge.

I agree with the baby blade stamping taking something away from the look.

If that stamping was in Japanese it would be perfect.

Glad to provide those pics!

General Observation.... I like the "Baby Blade" stamp on the back. Miura makes a lot of models and they need to distinguish them. The original Baby Blades ( pre 1957 model) looked so much like the Tournament Blades that they were hard to tell apart.

Personal opinion but, on the new release, the toe looks to be more of a hybrid. Equal parts square and round (compared to the 1957 Baby Blade).

See the same, Chip? Or am I imagining?

I can't see a difference, but they could have tweaked the heads a little during the grinding phase. 5-iron pictures attached. The 2019 Baby Blade is on the top or the left and the 1957 Baby Blade is on the bottom or right on any pictures where you cannot see the model.hw8yl4z1e9fa.jpg

Yep. Those and PDG and Vega and now the new Kyoei brand. All forged by Kyoei.
