Cool Modifications to bags, accessories etc

weak topic but I havent seen a course in 4 months!

Since its snowing and cold out, need something to pass the time. Just wondering if anyone has done any modifications to things like bags, accessories, homemade stuff etc.

Thought I'd share "the glove holder"....picked up a package of velcro rectangle thingy ma gigs, taped the back so it doesn't stick to bag and put a carabiner in there...voila! My golf buddies loved it so much they asked me to make them some....Made 6 of them....charged them 1 pro V1 lol.

Cost, approx, $3 for the velcro (pkg of 4), 1 carabiner $.69 Cents, and some duct tape.

Anyone have anything cool to share?

That's an entertaining idea OP. Could use gorilla tape since it is black and wont be as obvious ad duct tape. Sadly no mods to my bag that ping didn't do.

 

KTM, you can always just use the velcro patch on the glove and put it on to your straps. I've done that for years, it's almost as quick as having a velcro patch.

True I guess I could've used black tape but didn't have any... I used to attach glove to straps, but I've lost and dropped a few gloves that came off as I threw it on my shoulders.

man, what a great idea. instead of sharing your prototype, you should have taken this to the next level and tried to turn it into a few bucks!

my old Callaway bag had a velcro patch sewed in, but the location wasn't great. Being able to fasten where desired is a great idea. Could even try with a smaller clasp to hook on to a zipper.

I realize its an old thread, but I thought I would add a couple of pics of what I do for my EGS. I have a Velcro loop,or I should say a hook and loop loop, on the towel ring. It can hold two gloves. Also, I just added a 1"x1" patch down by the pockets for when I carry. I used the furry side on the bottom patch, and the rough side on the loop. I will be doing some testing later in the week if I get time and report the results if I remember.

Here's a little invention I made because I think the Clicgear bag cosy is a rip off.

 

Ingredients:

1x non hollow pool noodle.

2x lengths of double sided velcro.

 

Use a hack saw to shape pool noodle to fit your bag. Install with double sided velcro.

 

Simple!

Used it for quite a few rounds, and seems to be holding up very well. Even if it wears out, I can make another 5 of them out of the same pool noodle!

Purchased a pool noodle to re-create Benno's cart modification and ended up using the noodle as padding for my Little Peanut's new day bed. Still have a wee bit left to experiment with.

Resurrecting an old thread. I've tried the pool noodle mod but couldn't really get it to work right and didn't care for the look. Happened to notice I could attach the bag with two zip ties. I just bought a cheap jar of 650 and a $3 pair of wirecutters that I keep in the trunk for detaching from the cart at the end of the day. Works really well to keep the bag centered and not moving at all.

easy fix for a glove holder.

attach a carabiner to an upper grab handle on the bag.

loop one of those rubber give-a-way wrist straps through that.

hang the glove around the strap and fasten the glove velcro closed.

done.

Another mod. Zip tie an alligator clip on the cart and hang a small, wet towel for cleaning the dirt off the clubs. I use really cheap shot towels that I then just pitch after several rounds. Save your good golf towel for drying clubs, hands, face!

Velcro tape is the best. I have a strip on my pushcart console to slap the glove on between shots.

 

I really like the Frogger latch-it kit for the rangefinder, but think it could be overkill for a towel. I remember another thread on here where someone was using custom made towel clips that universally fit the rain hood buttons on the bag. That would be the ultimate quick release towel setup!

Small "mod" for hanging towels on Clic Gear. These clips fit perfectly on the hanger "knobs" -- bargain at $1.00 for 5 of them.
