AVX vs. Prestige

Hi Guys, I have seen some stuff on here about how the Titleist Prestige (Japan only???) is the same thing as the AVX. Is that actually a true statement? Is the AVX the same exact ball just branded differently?

I don’t think so. The prestige I played were three piece surlyn. Unless they’re different versions of that ball.

Very similar if not the same ball. Same specs as the AVX. Same dimple type/design. 3 piece urethane that was available in yellow same as the AVX. The Titleist Japan website does not list the AVX ball. Hmm. The internal cores of the AVX/Prestige are different colors that however doesn't mean they aren't the same. Give them both a try and compare them for yourself. Especially since the Prestige can be had for $20/dozen.

There have been mutiple versions of the Prestige. The current version has the exact urethane cover as the AVX.

Yes, I believe the newer version(s) of the Prestige are basically identical. Look closely at the description, as the new Prestige (and the version available right before the AVX release) should have the same cover, construction and dimple pattern. FWIW, I bought some Prestige that were pretty inexpensive that play identical to AVX, save for an interesting “pearl” type finish and big Titleist logo.

Thanks guys, did end up ordering a dozen of the pearl from Morton golf. Figured for that price it would make sense to give them a try! May get a sleeve or two of the AVX as well and compare side by side as I haven’t played the AVX yet. Will report back with some results when I have them.

Lets us know what you think after you use them. When I was in MB i saw them in like clear egg crates at the PGASS there. That logo just looks fishy to me. Kinda like the pearl paint.

I've been playing the AVX for 2 two years one of the guys at my club showed up with the prestige, I tried it dimple pattern looks just like the AVX, cover is soft, distance off the driver comparable, distance with the irons is definitely longer by 5 yards or so, they spin a lot around the greens, definitely putt a little firmer than the AVX, in fact I had to alter my stroke slightly cause I was hitting the putts too firm, I believe I am scoring better with this ball

I believe those were the tour prestige, they were marketed in the USA

Why/how is it that newb members seem to be magnetically attracted to years old posts and respond in some semi-random manner?
 Very confused. Never understood this. Clearly a thing though.

Oh I don't know maybe because I just joined, and I happened upon these posts after playing the ball. Part of the reason I normally avoid forums because of replies like yours

You either have people replying to old posts to bring the topic back up or they start a new thread themselves and are linked to or told about the old thread where it was already discussed. Personally i'd rather the old thread be brought back up if I had to choose, plus @Maud dib's additions were relevant.

It’s supposed to be funny. If you’re so thin skinned as to be insulted by someone actually responding to your otherwise pointless post, then you’re certainly correct to stay away. Note you can “ignore” me and other bad people through your profile in the upper right.

The balls arrived Sunday, which was a bit if a shock since I didn’t receive a notification the balls had been shipped. On first examination, they are kind of dull in appearance and 45 out of 48 are number 01. The sharpie will be busy, lol
