Poll - The Masters: 1986 or 2019

To me the '86 Masters is the best ever being how Nicklaus stormed back and shot 30 on the back 9 taking out Norman, Ballesteros and Kite. Nicklaus wasn't playing well and was labeled as too old. With Woods, he has overcome health issues, personal issues and self doubt. Maybe my sentiment with '86 is my admiration for Nicklaus. Maybe the 2019 Masters is the most incredible. I need time to digest what just happened in the grand scheme of things.

Close, considering Tiger was very close to never being able to play again let alone win a major, but '86 for me by a whisker...probably because I'm old.

Today was the better Masters for me, personally. To come back from the depths of darkness that once surrounded Tiger is an amazing accomplishment.

Never saw Jack....was only 5 at the time so it holds literally no weight to my generation in my eyes.

For me and 100% of my friends Tiger woods sets the bar and thrill needle for golf....I am extremely grateful that I got to see what I saw today. And if he were to ride off into the sunset, to know that I saw a man come back from a broken back with the thought of never playing again seeing the TC last year and now this, I am satisfied that I got to see the GOAT in his prime and his return.

1981-preMasters 1986 -

Jack won at Colonial in 1982 and his Memorial in 1984. A few isolated seconds at majors, but not much going on.

1985 was a TERRIBLE year for Jack.

1986 he says, and he was right, was even worse - 6th, MC, 29th, MC, 47th, WD with injury that season before Augusta.

He was in a huge slump and playing terrible in '86. A writer that wrote him off provided refrigerator motivation courtesy of a friend who taped it there.

2019. To overcome both the physical and personal issues that Tiger has faced over the past decade shows just how much determination he has. Falling so far from grace would have ended most people.

Not to mention a 9 iron to the face.

Tiger for me.

Something to consider...

Factor in the worldwide media blitz Tiger deals with in 2019. The added substantial pressure because the overall viewing audience is 100x bigger. If he lost it somehow it would be magnified MUCH more than a Jack L. Even with the bad health and other issues he's overcome, a 2nd today and he would get RIPPED by many of the jack fans (not all of them).

Dudes whole life was destroyed not long ago in every regard. Outside of Jack being older and playing amazing out of the blue, in '86 he simply wasn't dealing with the motherload of hate/pressure and several other factors that Tiger wakes up to. A writer or two writing Jack off pre '86 is childs play compared to the criticism of TW.

Ive written this before, today and again. It's the biggest day in golf history to me all things considered. There has never been a day more people have known who won a golf tournament. ITS EVERYWHERE!

If Moli got to -15 and Tiger shot 67 again, I would say 2019, but as far as drama and heroics, '86 is still more unbelievable.

Oh, btw, I'm a millenial(1yo in '86), Tiger super-fanboy posting this, so take it as you like.

Today had the potential, but '86 was more exciting. I'm thrilled that Tiger won, but at the same time disappointed that not a single one of the superstars on today's leaderboard was able to post a really good number. I'd never have bet that Tiger could win shooting 70 given the generally soft conditions. Definitely a case of "weak sauce" by the contenders, but with few exceptions that's been the case in many of his wins.

Still, all credit in the world to him for overcoming adversity and coming back from a very dark place. Good for the game for sure...

He would get ripped by anti-Tigerites on here and elsewhere.

Nicklaus fans are classy, historians of the game.

And we would NEVER rip anyone for finishing 2nd at a major! ;)

Jack was 46 and in some kind of a slump but did not have to battle any physical injuries..

Tiger is 43 recovering from 4 back surgeries and 3 other procedures plus past personal demons..

I would choose Tiger by a slim margin..

Hate to say it... but all that was Tiger induced, one way or another.. The guy hugged the most important figure in his life after his victory today - Mark Steinberg.
