Odd day on the course.

I played my second round here in Indiana today and it was an odd round of golf. I put new irons and play P790 with rip tour Shafts and hit the ball great down to the eight iron. However if I had a nine pitch or any of my wedges in my hand I could not hit the ball. I don’t like to use the term shank end it really wasn’t Shanks but I had extreme trouble making solid contact with my wedges. I could hit the green from 180 with the six iron but I couldn’t get a wedge or a nine iron to the green from 120 or 140 yards???I know it’s impossible for anyone to diagnose my swing flaw through a post more venting at this time.

I'm in the opposite right now. I can hit wedge through 8 but 7-4 are garbage.

check lie angles and swing weights

I also know if my back is bothering me the short irons are the hardest

I had a pro look at my swing and it was getting really steep and coming over the top. He had me put an alignment aid angled towards the right and had me swing down that line with the clubface squared with the thought of being shallow with my swing. It seems to have helped. Still intermittently happening but maybe 1 out of 50 which I can live with. It came out of nowhere and I am really having to concentrate on my swing path with the wedges and shorter irons but looks like I can get through it.

I was thinking your new clubs might swing weight differently from your old set. Was your old set graphite?

Wedges can get in your head. On your practice swing try and hit the same blade of grass three times. Get set up properly and keep focused on the ball all the way through your swing.
