Onoff Kuro or Srixon Z585

I am a high handicap beginner (my point is over 100....) playing golf for 2 years. As I need to take care my family, I can only practice twice and play once a month. My strike is not stable so far.

 

I am looking for a forged clubs for the replacement of my 712 AP1.

 

Onoff Kuro 2017 looks so sexy and i wanna get one. Is it suitable for a beginner like me?

Or i better go for Z585 which seems more forgiving?

Someone more familiar with those can correct me if I'm wrong, but the description I see for the Kuro is compact with a focus on precision over distance.

 

That screams iron for a better player to me. There are a lot of good GI and SGI irons out there though. I think the Z5xx from Srixon are great.

Are you trying to get better? Goals to break any specific score? If not, go the Kuro. Treat yourself. Little differences between the 2, especially if you're spraying the face. You can grow into both, but you'll want to grow into the Kuro's :). Get the Kuro's, when you feel they are too much at times, buy a set of Cleveland CBX launcher irons cheap (basically Srixon 5/3 series) to build your confidence. Plus, having 2 sets of gamer irons is fun. Keep your head still, bend your knees, apply shaft lean best you can.

My buddy has z565 and I have onoff 2017 (I dont play em anymore tho)....the onoff are gi clubs for sure...they dont have a springy thin face like srixons but they arent small and have big cavity and thickish topline....

Pretty easy to hit actually.....

 

The older onoffs were more player cb from what i hear

 

Srixons prolly still go farther on mishits, but on center strikes idk....i hit onoffs almost club longer than players CBS

 

Onoff is probably one best feeling CB's I've hit.....pure out of center tho

 

The onoff is not that compact, I thought it would be but its same as 919f or somewhere close

I have a set of both, and either is a good choice. If you're a beginner, the Srixon are outstanding. Good luck with your choice.

Never hit the Srixons but I do have the 2015 Kuros. Solid irons and very forgiving.

I'd personally go with the 585's. These will probably be the next irons I purchase.

If you can get a set of the 2015 OnOff Kuro irons they are exceptional in feel , forgiveness and workability. They are like hens teeth so the Srixon Z585 is probably what you will end up with. I have bought two new sets of Z765 but sold them because they can't compete with the OnOff 2015 Kuro YMMV . I have an extra set if you're interested PM me
