Cherry Hills, Castle Pines or Colorado Golf Club

Apologize if this has already been beaten to death in other posts.

Assuming that we have the choice (I appreciate it is a big assumption), is there a consensus for the preferred course to play? We are traveling from Canada and are hoping to play a top-end private in Denver mid-summer.

Any insight into the courses would be appreciated, i,e. underrated/overrated, overall experience, unaccompanied fees, etc...

Cheers,

All three courses are phenomenal. Usually have to have a pretty solid connection for a tee time at any of them. If you're only playing one it would be Cherry but it would be a treat to get on any of them. Also, if you're a man short at any, feel free to PM me.

As noted getting on Cherry Hills is very tough. I have a client/good friend who is a member and I play it a couple times a year with him. I pay my way (directly to him). I know when we play he can only invite one person at a time (unless something has changed). The course is excellent. I would not consider it the best course I have ever played, but that is mainly as it does not fit my eye so to speak.

Edit: Have not played the other two. I have a chance to play Colorado this year with someone but not sure I will in town to do so.....

Castle Pines Golf Club is the best course there is in Colorado bar none. Cherry Hills is great course, but not in the same class in my mind. Colorado Golf Club shouldn't even be in the same conversation as the first two. Ballyneal is better than Colorado Golf Club, by a good amount. Yes, I have played all of them and play the top two 5-10 times a year.

Castle Pines was a tremendous experience which i'm grateful to have had. But I respectfully disagree on this. Ballyneal is a better course IMO.

I haven't played CGC or CH yet.

I haven’t played Ballyneal but have CP Golf Club several times. It is a great experience, and it’s in great condition (though they have absolutely butchered the greens for 2 or 3 years). Colorado Golf Club is a better course IMO

They have done a pretty good job getting the greens back, oh believe me it was a major issue and the members let it be known. The upgrades they did turned out good as well. Surprised with your choice, I haven't really heard anyone say that they liked Colorado Golf Club better then Castle Pines or Cherry Hills.

Different strokes/folks etc. You could talk me into CP Golf Club, and it is beautiful. So my top two, you could flip back and forth. Cherry Hills truly does nothing for me, from a course perspective, the entire experience is obviously top notch. I guess the way I look at it is if you went out and hit the driver well at Cherry it's practically a pitch and putt. You hit more clubs, and different shots, at the other two.

Haven't played any on here besides Cherry Hills (hoping to get on at Ballyneal this year) but this last assessment is perfect. I'm playing to a 9 or so right now and the assistant pro (who went -3 the day I played there) told me not to take driver off the tee until 11. I was +1 after ten holes...which is something that does not happen often for me. I think I ended up at +6 or something like that. It really is not, especially from the members' tees, a long or difficult course. Great experience for sure, but the more I think back on it, I've played better public courses from a pure golf perspective.

I’ve played all 3 and while you can’t go wrong with any of them, I most enjoyed my round at Colorado Golf Club. It plays really firm and fast and makes you think on every shot. I’ve always been a huge fan of Coore/Crenshaw courses though. The overall experience at all 3 clubs is top notch. The milkshakes at Castle Pines are to die for!!

I'd go Colorado GC 1 Cherry 2 CP 3. Not a big fan of the golf course at CP. Great experience but not my favorite golf course. Cherry is classic and historic but average in spots. Love CGC would be happy to play there every day.

I got out on Colorado GC this summer and it's an amazing track. Would probably put it above CP and below Ballyneal. I just need to figure out a way to get out on Cherry Hills so I can answer this question definitively.
