MP 57 irons

So I’ve played MP 30s for many years and had a fitting a couple years ago and got a set of JPX 900F. Struggled with my ball striking for a while and while forgiving, I wasn’t in love with the turf interaction. Had my clubs stolen a couple months ago and was “forced” to play the old 30s. My ball striking has slowly returned (more about swing changes I believe).

Anyway, while I’ve really enjoyed those irons, they’re getting pretty worn. I want a similar profile with maybe a tad more forgiveness. Saw a set of MP 57s at GG for 129.00 with same shafts I play in my 30s.

Anyone play the 57s and have any feedback on them?

They felt good on when I hit on at GGs, but hard to tell hitting off mats.

I play MP-57s and have zero complaints. Found them at a serendipitous time about 18 months ago when I was about to pull the trigger on the MP-18 SCs. In addition to being way cheaper, they looked identical at address but felt better and were prettier too. You can't go wrong for $129 IMO.

My first Mizunos were the MP-30. Then I moved the MP-57 and played them the longest of any iron I've ever owned (8 years?). The MP-57's were the only iron that I actually wore out (the short irons only). I loved them and if I could have found a used set in good condition, I would have bought them again. I ended up going with the MP-54, which are good, but don't feel quite the same to me as the MP-57's did. I really liked the solid feel of the 57 and found the P to 7 to be really precise scoring clubs for me (the longer irons in any model are much more difficult for me). For that price, if the faces are still pretty clean, I would buy them in a heartbeat.

Go for it. I feel any Mizuno in the MP50s series will be more forgiving than the MP30s and will be close to the JPX line in forgiveness, but the MP series will have a shorter blade length. The MP57 is definitely a solid choice. I have a set of MP53s I still play from time to time and they perform very well.

The 57s have been the longest-serving irons in my bag, albeit the 4s will pass them this season. I might still have them if my swing hadn't changed and the shafts stopped working for me. The 57s were designed by Mr. Voshall.

IMO. BEST looking iron ever. They are actually surprisingly big bead for an MP iron. I never understood why they never collected all time classic reputation.

They are definitely a larger head than my old MP 30s, but still have a thin top line.

I figured for hundred bucks, why not give them a go?

An excellent deal. Congrats. I did not know Chris Voshall was the lead designer on these. That’s great.

Thanks..I didn’t realize that either.

Didn’t get out today for a round and tomorrow is supposed to bring lots of rain. I did take the 8 iron out behind the house (live on a course with a 155 yard par 3 steps from my back door). Definitely noticed a higher ball flight and I already hit my irons very high so I hope I don’t see much loss in distance from the MP 30s.

Couldn’t be happier with these. They setup perfectly behind the ball, feel great and offer more forgiveness than the MP 30s.

I haven’t hit a iron off the tie as often as I did today in a long time. Seemed so easy to hit compared to the MP 30 3 iron.

> Glad to hear it worked out, especially for $100! The MP50s are all good, and I still have some some in the bag. Really forgiving.

New irons are really nothing but a shiny new toy.

Did a fitting with one of the top fitters in Florida when I bought my 900Fs. Never really got along with them as much as if hoped I would.

After I had my bag stolen, I was forced to go back to my old MP 30s and shot two of my lowest rounds in years. Now with the 57s, I’m getting more forgiveness and the just feel right and look right at address.

I have a near new set of MP57, maybe 2 rounds and 2 range sessions total. I have the s300 shafts which are a bit too heavy and stiff for my game now, have been considering reshafting with some Rifle satin 5.0's.

this thread got my interest up again on the 57's

enjoy your set,

Tad
