Most Forgiving Driving Iron?

What I like about the Mizzy MMC Fli-Hi is it does not seem so much like a driving iron. Easy off the turf. Nice sound and feel.

'considerations' in the head makes a DI more forgiving, same time hard to call if it's an 'iron' sans it's made of steel. some DIs are seriously chunky hence no big difference to the hybrid heads. going for 'forgiving', giving up the crispy/sharp look&feel of a low-lofted iron.

Phenomenal post there man! Totally agree

I have the tp Udi #3 as well. The slimmer and lower offset models appeal to me, some are set models even. Many set 3irons have been neglected, they are awesome!

I’m always looking for great feel/acoustics as well. It’s crazy I’m actually bending some for more loft which I never used to do, cause they launch high with low spin like driver if you have a really sweet build. Some are designed for tee ball bullets even for high SS players. You can make nuclear driving irons now. I’m having a lot of fun doing so!

When I'm playing my MMC combo set, (4,5,6 MMC FliHi and 7-PW MMC with Modus3 Tour 120s) I hit them all fine. I added a 3i MMC FliHi with C-Taper Lite 110s and just can't seem to hit it. My 4i MMC FliHi works great. Not sure if it's the low loft or the wrong shaft for me. I might change it out to match the rest of the set.

On the flip side, my 919 Tours (4-PW with C-Taper Lite 110s) are still sitting unplayed as I have a Mizuno fitting next weekend and if it proves that I need another offering, I'll be selling them unhit outside. But my testing of them on the indoor sim shows they should be a good fit. Just want to have the new Mizuno DNA 3D swing analyzer to confirm this.

By design the Gapper Mid should be the most forgiving model of the three. I did have very good results with the Apex UT last year and a p790 (not the UDI model). For me this year the M6 hybrid was a better fit over the driving iron. Really any club can shine with the right shaft in it.

Srixon ZX MK 11 #3 Utility iron

I would definitely think about a lighter shaft in steel or graphite in that 3 iron. If you hit the others well, it is most likely all about creating better launch conditions and/or a bit more speed. Probably an easy fix. Or get a Ping hybrid like me!

I lust for the 919 Tours. Don’t know that I could handle them but they at least are reportedly friendlier than the 900 Tour, which weirdly was harder for me to hit than the MP5. Let us know what the Mizzy man says.

I've been playing an original UDI 3 for about five years. Started with a Fujikudra 904HB that finally broke, now playing it with an Aldila RIP Tour 115 and love it.

If your a Modus 120 guy, the Taper C-Light aren’t even comparable. Modus 120 would be more comparable to the Px LZ.

Had the TC-L in my 1 iron H5 and the feel was horrid.

Even hit the TC-L out of curiosity during my MP18MB fitting, same ugly feel.

If you decide to go graphite, I would go with Recoil F4.

I got to try it today with a Project X 6.5 shaft and I have to admit, it is much easier to hit than the UDI 2 iron with AD-Di 95 shaft.

I will compare them again tomorrow.

I just picked up a U85 for some testing. A good mention is the G410 Crossover; I like that it's much more iron like in appearance. I was getting similar distance and flight between the G410 and U85 but was more consistent with the strikes on the U85.

I wasn't a fan of the U65 since the stock shaft and I didn't get along; the Recoil 95 they're putting in the U85 is much better IMO.
