Cotton polos, ugh...does anyone remember wearing those and having to hike up the sleeves to keep them from sticking to your arms? It was such a nasty feeling to have a shirt soaked in sweat sticking to my triceps, or even elbows in the old days. I’m a 100% convert to modern shirts and a more athletic cut.

when I was a pup - good player at one course always dressed in short sleeve oxford cloth button downs.

pressed slacks. shined shoes.

never a soft shirt, as he called them. said he didn't come to paint a fence.

I do not even wear straight cotton polos to the office anymore. That newer material just feels so much better. I do have a couple on backup duty in case I do not do laundry enough, but give me the performance breathable material all day e'ryday.

This is the most insane post I ever read in here... no offense. The greatest thing that ever happened to golf is not having to wear a stiff cotton polo that gets a flat collar and shrinks and smothers you in August. Golf is a sport, athletes don’t play in cotton.

Sateen sheets with high thread counts are the way to go. They are cotton, but very fine and treated to be smooth / soft. I don’t intend to sweat much in my sheets (except for, you know...). But the sateen sheets are similar to “performance” fabric to me. Softer, finer, cooler...etc.

For the record, those of us in the "cotton is king" camp, are probably not playing in your classic pique polo i.e. Polo by Ralph Lauren. We are playing in a thin smooth cotton weave, athletically cut, perhaps even cotton with a small amount of spandex woven in to save the shape. To each their own, but if I'm going to be a sweaty mess I'd rather be soaking wet in cotton than clammy with polyester stuck to me. Honestly those of you wearing them to the office makes more sense. Everyone keeps their office at 65 to 70 degrees F so of course you could wear poly. Some people certainly sweat more than others, I rarely sweat unless I'm exerting myself and the temps have to be pretty warm unless I just drank a ton of coffee and am under a bunch of stress :) Poly golf shirt off the course is about as far away from my style as I can imagine, but I can understand it from a comfort point of view.

Smartwool, Ibex, Icebreaker, and others make wool polo style shirts. Those with with largely merino wool are awesome.
