Callaway X-18 irons, Uniflex shaft. If it's warm (above 65) I use the 37 degree 8 iron. Cooler weather gets the 33 degree 7 iron.

 

Temps today were high 30's and it took the 29 degree 6 iron to get 150 - 155.

5 iron for me. From that distance, I'm looking to land short and roll it on if the green allows.

 

Guess I picked up some distance this winter. 6 iron now.

7 iron now. This time it wasn't me that picked up distance, it was my new clubs. The loft on my new 7 iron is the same as the loft on my prior 6.

Most likely my 42* 9 iron in typical conditions. Haven't hit that club in awhile, but I'd imagine 150 - 155 for my 9.

My mp54 7 iron is solid at 155 carry and my 8 is 143. I try not to overpower my irons. I had a set of tm rsi's years ago where the 7 iron was close to my 170 club.

Last year it was an easy 8. This year it’s looking like a 9.

 

Had a 155 yard shot and threw is 169 into a hill in 40* weather. Need to check yardages with everything.

I'm playing 2014 Callaway Apex Pros with 'weak' lofts, so an easy 37 degree 8 iron.

8 iron. If I am swinging well I can get a 9 iron there, but that generally turns into a bladed 9 iron hitting hot and then a solid flop shot or a punchout from the trees behind the green.

So far this season it's been a hard 8 or soft 7. Usually a normal 8 for me. But with the cold weather and poor ball striking on my part it's been tough to get my normal yardages.

Full swing (hopefully straight) 36* 7 iron, smooth (hopefully high cutting) 32* 6 iron, punch 28* 5 iron (into the wind)...

 

Basically, these shots typically work out 60% of the time, it works every time...LOL...but you have to have a plan with every swing, right?

I’m a longer hitter and 5HC.

Just a weird question to me I guess.... a stock 9 iron is what I’d hit to go the ball exactly 150.

But different clubs for different scenarios.

Maybe a wedge if I want a high towering shot that’ll spin. Maybe a knock down 8 to get to a tough pin placement.

Ping 120 7-8 iron. Depending on how I’m feeling that day. I believe golf is more about controlling your shots than what number is in bottom. Of course I’m only 230-240 off the tee and not the longest

Midseason form still a decent 7 iron for me. And hitting it very high at the moment, think it might be costing me some yards. Playing a 34° 7 iron
