Bandon 2nd Time Around...What Do You Do Differently?

Just booked tee times for 3 weeks from today. Cannot wait for Bandon visit #3.

 

Friday pm - BD

Saturday am - PD

Saturday pm - BT

Sunday am - OM

 

These next three weeks are going to be brutal for concentrating on anything other than Bandon.

So fun to read all of this stuff getting ready for my first trip in a few weeks. Nothing here is very surprising given links golf and the climate, but it's just awesome to anticipate what is coming and to see the tips from those who have been there - so, thanks!

I'm stealing away to get there for really just one day as part of another trip, hoping to get in a late round or something the day of my arrival if flights work and then all set for 36 (OM, PD) and hoping to make that 54 on my full day of golf. Hoping we are done with Chicago snow so I'm actually in something close to mid-season form...

It’s not as awe inspiring as anything on the resort but it’s a great course. I loved it!

I just got back from my first trip to bandon. I would say I would not book trails and old mac on the same day. both courses are extremely hilly especially trails. I would say that was the toughest 36 we played there just from a physical aspect.

Just got back from first Bandon Trip. I would break the 13-43(36+7 at Pac)-36-36 up a bit better (schedule a nap or massage in between rounds) and would play the preserve as a second or third round of the day instead of day of arrival. One thing I love is doing 1-7 at Pac Dunes after playing 36 just for a best ball with some brews. Can’t promote that enough.

Booked my 2nd Bandon trip for end of February/beginning of March about 14 months after my first ever trip. I just couldn't wait any longer. Things I am changing/doing differently this time around:

- Playing PD in the morning/Playing BT in the afternoon/Playing BD in the morning

- Playing The Preserve

- Staying in a Golf Double at The Inn rather than Lily Pond room(interested on people's experience for these rooms, we loved our lily pond room last trip)

- Playing BD twice instead of BT

- Playing the Punchbowl while they're serving drinks

- Checking out the Practice Facility & Shorty's

- Hopefully playing preview play at SR(fingers crossed)

- Going at the end of February instead of the beginning of December(More Sunlight!)

 

Things I plan on keeping the same:

- Eating dinner at McKee's mostly

- Playing 36/day

- Playing PD twice

- Getting a whiskey and cigar at the bunker bar

- Taking swigs of fireball for birdies

Difference between The Inn and Lily Pond Room wise is the fireplace, and lack of one in The Inn. Lily Pound rooms felt darker, but they were bigger.

 

Also,The Inn has better patios overlooking BD 18 if you are on the ground floor. May or may not have hit a few over Cut Creek to the green in the evening.

The Inn also has a library with bar and social space. Nice place to gather as a group.

Have we ever gotten a Bandon thread locked? We might here....

 

Eboettne- I've done Inn king rooms but not doubles. I personally like the Lily pond rooms, but as a practical matter both are fine, beds and showers are equally comfortable. Looks like trip 2 is a sold plan.

Yeah I was a big fan of all the space at the lily pond and fireplace for drying clothes but having a bar, a view of Bandon Dunes and being closer to Trails/Preserve would be nice too. I'm splitting hairs at this point.
