Tiger Woods' Putter Question

i know tiger used an answer 2 before his cammy but was it a scottsdale or phonex model ping and if it was one of those models what year was it. like 1970 for example. and scottsdale and phenox mean what factory they were made in. if somebody has this information i would be very happy thanks.

 

 

Since the Anser 2 Did not come out until the Early 1980's. 1983 I Believe. And of course all then were Phoenix.

 

A Plain Jane Anser 2 In Stainless. Nothing fancy

so are u positive it was a 1983 answer 2 ping putter.

 

As noted above. The Ping Anser 2 came out in the early 1980's.

 

I believe 1983.

 

And they still make it today. So it could be 1983 model to whenever Tiger used one.

 

Again, a Plain Jane Anser 2 In Stainless Steel.

 

Think your right with the 1980 date,,,,,, I bought a PING Anser 2 stainless along with a set of PING Eye irons around April 1982,while stationed at the old Williams AFB AZ, reason am sure of the date is soon after I married my ex-wife and then was sent to Torrejon AB Spain in June,,, I miss that putter!,,

Does anybody know what major he won with the ping anser 2 ? If he did ?

 

No professional majors, but IMO it's worth mentioning that he wielded a stainless Anser 2 for both the 1994 and 1995 U.S. Amateur wins.

Someone from 2016 asked to bump this thread, so here goes. Tiger indeed resurfaced with his Trusty Newport 2 GSS used to win his 5th Masters championship. Cannot confirm the Jedi music, but definitely a piece of history here.

I don't know why they don't make it closer to the Studio Stainless shape, that's basically what Tiger's is with the thin flange & bumpers. Go look at a 330g Studio Stainless, pretty darn close to the same shape and design. The Timeless 2 is closer though than the original Timeless, however, so there's that.

Won his first masters with a teryllium Newport. Then switched to the elder wand.
