Myrtle Beach in May (Need Course Picks)

WRXers, planning a Myrtle Beach trip over Memorial Day Weekend and I'm going crazy trying to come up with 4 courses to play. I've been down to Myrtle twice and have played World Tour, Legend's Heathland, Moorland, and Parkland, so trying to stay away from what I've already played. I'd love to do it big and play True Blue, Caledonia, Dunes Beach Club, the Barefoot Resort courses, and the other $$$ ones, but trying to find some decent, quality tracks under $100.

Thinking 4 rounds (Fri-Mon), and debating whether I should try to keep them all pretty close to each other (I know how spread out MB is) or just pull the trigger on quality courses at a decent price point ($50-$75 per round). I'm thinking AirBnB for lodging so I won't book that until I've nailed down the courses. Would love to hear your thoughts.

Thinking of either links-style courses (so Thistle, Wizard, and Prestwick), or other tracks that are fun and memorable. Other ones I'm thinking about: Kings North, TPC MB, but depends on what price I can get them at.

Of the Ocean Ridge Plantation courses, Tiger’s Eye is my favorite. I would stay away from Panther’s Run and Lions Paw. Leopard’s Chase is probably the most difficult and closer to a links course of any of the four.

If you want to stay closer to Myrtle Beach, Myrtlewood is relatively cheap and has a great finishing hole along the inter coastal waterway.

There are a lot of possible combos. If you stay central, drives to north/south courses are not too bad 1 or 2 times.

You don't want to say on one end and play on the other end.

Barefoot, Kings North, Grande Dunes, TPC, Thistle, Tidewater, TB, Glen Dornoch will be in the $100-120 range.

Caledonia + The Dunes higher.

Good more in the $75 range are: Farmstead, Wild Wing, Heritage, Willbrook, Arrowhead, Prestwick, Long Bay,

Crow Creek (forgiving), Oyster Bay, Rivers Edge, Tigers Eye.

Some courses have lower rates before 8am + after 1pm. Mon-Wed rates are lower, so maybe put your high end course on Mon.

KN, Grande Dunes + TPC are good choices. Heritage is good but on the south end, but includes breakfast + lunch.

They have 27. A full 18 hole course (avocet) and a 9 hole course (Hummingbird)

Forever Changing at this point.......

word of caution, that's bike weekend. it is going to be jam packed, especially in the evening and night, north end of myrtle, barefoot area, north myrtle beach area. Mornings and day will be fine, crowded but manageable. night will be bad. dowtown myrtle will be a nightmare. South end towards surfside, garden city, litchfield, pawleys won't be so bad at all.

Agree with Herdman. I have been there Memorial weekend the past 8 years with my group. Last year was not nearly as busy as previous years but still plan for traffic. If possible try to avoid both Bypass 17 and Business 17. Use 31 as much as possible and you will cut your travel time to courses significantly. I think the courses are not as busy that weekend compared to a non bike week. We always book the golf in advance but if we want to add an extra round we go to the PGA Superstore. There is a golf desk in the lobby and you can get some great last minute deals either 24 hours in advance or same day. The staff at the store said the courses they partner with will offer last minute low rates to fill the tee sheet (played Farmstead for $35 after a morning round at Barefoot Dye). Hope you have a great weekend.

> Piggybacking this thread as I’ll be in myrtle during Memorial Day weekend. Apparently it is biker week. Hoping to get 2 rounds in early. Thinking Caledonia 1 morning and something else closer to downtown another morning.

I’m a fan of Wild Wing so I’ll suggest that. It’s right off 501 near MB national.
