Hole No. 12 at ANGC

Recommended Posts

The lifetime stroke average for #12 at Augusta is 3.28, the fourth most difficult hole.

2019 stats

R1 3.05 (middle pin)

R2 2.94 (middle pin)

R3 2.92 (left pin)

R4 3.34 (right pin)

9 double bogey fives or worse in the final round with 5 the other three days

I can't find the TPC Sawgrass records for #17 as an all time stroke average. It was only 3.02 this year.

I thought the same thing today. I said “self “. He said “ whaaatt” !? ( as he’s a grouchy a**). I said “ self , put this in your think tank and store it. If we’re ever in the hunt on the back 9 at Augusta ... hit it over the trap left on 12. Don’t F with the pin “!!!! He said “ stfu !!! You think I’m stupid or something “? Which was his way of saying he agreed. So we’re all covered if it happens !

Big miss? Strokes gained says that from 160yds out off a tee box the average pro leaves his shot 30 feet from the pin. The data says 8-9 yds is not a miss but “better than most” (had to do that, sorry)

Like Freddie in '92. He said after almost getting wet on 12 in his win that his aim was middle of the green. But out of the corner of his eye he could see the pin and just subconsciously pushed it towards the "target".

> When the pin is right, it's very difficult. And the landing area in front of the green on the right side is non-existent, so you have to reach the green or miss left and catch the bunker. While I'm not certain how much the wind was a factor this past Sunday, it has been a major factor in the past. I recall reading an article years ago about the bizarre wind pattern on 12 from the trees. It creates swirls and cross-currents.

Well said. Can you tell me about your Ketsch putter please?

Thanks.

OFF TOPIC:

As for the Ketsch 2.0 putter, it's face balanced and I've got the straight back-straight through model. While there is no such thing as the best putter (or best driver/irons/wedges) there is a best one for you. I tested like crazy for weeks before I bought it and it came down to the Ketsch or the Evnroll mallet (I think it was the ER6). What I love about it most is how it sets up to the ball very square with a slightly forward position in my stance, as I like to putt more off the left foot and (attempt) to stroke it like Stricker. It is so easy to line up square. It has great weight, feel, and release. It's shaved a full stroke off my score. I find it's a remarkable lag putter for my stroke and I'm using the stock weights that came with it. I tend to stick with putters for a long, long time. I had a Spider Taylor Made for a season and half, but it got destroyed. The putter before that had been in the bag for 14 years. If you like face balanced mallets, it might be worth a look.
