718 AP2’s First Round

To be honest, over the last year, it's been mentioned by multiple members that the AP2 is going to be phased out and replaced with something else. We'll see at the Quicken Loans.

Additionally, this AP2 is indeed the best in the series. I've never liked an AP2 until this one. Zero complaints about bagging them.

I don't know how you can get better than AP2, but I really hope it is! I am super excited to see what they release. My 714s are due for a refresh!

I would also be shocked for them to ditch the AP2 name... its probably the best recognized player cavity iron; literally a benchmark.

 

I agree with everyone... my favorite thing about the 718s is actually the leading edge/turf interaction... just on another level IMO.

I currently play the '19 Apex Pros... played '16 Apex pros... switched to Cally all because I could not STAND the 714 AP2's I had. I tried so many different shafts, etc over 2 years and could never get them to work right or feel right for me... it was painful honestly LOL.

 

I have hit the 718 AP2's as friend I play with alot has them and only chiming in on this thread to say I agree what everyone is saying. 718 is a good iron. WAY better than 714's for sure.

 

_EDIT: I had S300 in the 714's to start (plus many others) and the 718's have S300 so the difference is in the head design for sure._

One of the assistants at my club said the Titleist rep told him to expect big changes in the irons series me t year.

I had a demo 714 set last week and hit them back to back with my 718. The 718 feels more like a one piece forging than the 714 did. The 714 has a funny hollow feel to it despite being soft. The 718 turf interaction is worlds better. I wish the short irons were a bit more combo set-ish (as in more bladed or truly a one piece forging) but the 718 is awesome.

I’m looking at 714 or 718s. You still like the 718? Do the 718s feel soft? Thanks
