PREFACE:

After tinkering with one in store just to see how it felt compared to the marketing, I ended up pulling the trigger on a double wide 7s (mainly b/c I had some gift cards to Dick's/Golf Galaxy).

My primary putting flaw that leads to 3 putts or missed one putt ops is speed/distance control as my lines & reads seem to be fairly accurate typically.

INITIAL:

These putters definitely have a unique feel when you combine the redistributed weight from graphite shaft & the micro hinge insert. In store it seemed like I had more accurate & consistent speeds on lag putts. But as I'm sure others have experienced, putting in-store is about as much of a corollary to on course putting performance as hitting irons off mats vs turf but you have to start somewhere i guess.

LOOKS:

I do NOT like the color scheme or the overall look of the putter as i prefer a more subdued look. But I figure if it helps me in the round I'll live with it.

ON COURSE:

I gamed my first round with the double wide 7s a few days ago and was pleased with the results. I putted as well if not better than my gamer (EVNROLL wide blade) which I think shows promise considering the only other rolling I've done with it was in the Golf Galaxy.

The feel to me was similar to the old Taylor made Nubbins

Ouch.

Cant stand the cheap plastic feel plus the putters paint just falls off. There are a ton of returns on them at my local store. They had a great idea with the shaft but failed to execute it the right way and i think it will be a total flop.

What would be the right way to execute the shaft?

Not arguing, just curious.

Lethal injection?

For me, the feel of the stroke lab shafts are much like a counterbalance shaft. I understand what everyone says when they say it feels "whippy." I don't think the shaft is actually whipping, but it creates that same feel of needing to slow down my hands to let the club head catch up. I'm thinking that's mostly what the counterbalance effect does. It feels like there's less weight in the head and more weight up the shaft and in the grip. I've got a Toulon Las Vegas with the stroke lab shaft, and I'm waiting on the 40g Tungsten insert to arrive. I think once I add weight to the head, it will have more of a normal putter feel.

I purchased a 7s and a 2 Ball Fang S to properly try out. The shaft without doubt makes them feel stable and the heads despite their head weight of 365g, do not feel that due to what Odyssey have done with the lighter shaft. While they produced a good role, they felt too soft for me.

I may check out a first generation Toulon Austin or Portland.

I've been messing around with them and the Ping Sigma 2. The SL feel ok on lag putts but I feel like it's tough to judge short putts due to the lighter balanced feel.

I have the 7 and find it very stable, smooth and the ball feels good off the face. I putt as well with this as any other putter I own, and I'm a pretty good putter.

It is definitely a different feel, at first it feels too light. I believe this setup is for putters with smooth pendulum strokes, no hand movement.

**Any** jimmy jerking around and it just won't be effective.

I was actually using the SL Black R-Line with a different insert. You may be correct on the shaft. I did like the balance. It made it easy to take it back smooth and true. I'm usually pretty jerky on the take back. Have to use heavy head weight to stabilize it, but turns out a little counter balance helps.
