Possible Bad Trade

Made a trade with a member here. I sent him a putter and he sent me a carry bag. When I got the bag I stood it up it fell right over. Bit of an odd moment but whatever, then I tried to stand it up again and noticed the bag would just crumple at the bottom and collapse. After inspecting the bag I noticed there is a broken support rod (not the stand leg an internal support) which was rattling around loose in the bag. I inspected the rod and where it secures and doesn't look like it can be fixed or repaired by me at least. I contacted Ping to see if there is a fix but have not gotten a response yet.

 

I also inspected the box it was shipped in and there was no damage to the box so doesn't look like it got damaged in transit. I texted the fellow I traded with on Sunday (4/7/2019) and haven't gotten a response. At this point it looks like i'm out a putter and a bag as well.

 

I can provide photos tomorrow if needed.

I wouldn't give up on Ping though. If it can be fixed, id be shocked if they did not take care of it.

Yeah would be a bad first impression of the BST here for trades for me.

 

I won't I know Ping stands behind their products. So I'll wait another day or two then I'll call them and see what they can do. Luckily I'm not far from their HQ in Canada so I can bring it right to them. I'm not expecting a free bag from Ping, I just want a bag that I can use.

This is why I'm an advocate of all trades involving identical paypal exchanges as well (so that you're both buying the item for the same price in a zero sum transaction), then if one side gets hooped you can get your refund. Anyone that isn't willing to do that isn't someone I'd be comfortable trading with.

I had a Ping Hoofer that the liner ripped out of. I contacted Ping and they told me there was nothing they could do for me. It was a year out of their warranty. So, I am not sure how old the bag is. Just wanted to let you know that there is a chance that they can't do anything for you.

Shoot guess I'm gonna be sh*t outta luck then. I could maybe fix the support back in with a screw but it will be tricky for sure.

Still worth discussing it with them. I don't know how old your bag is. It may be covered.

In this case I believe it is a "s c r e w", which is a dirty word now for some dumb reason. Example: screw

Unfortunately I think these kinds of threads will increase until feedback returns. Not that it would’ve necessarily prevented this deal from occurring, but the majority of people aren’t going to want to do the background legwork on every single person they want to deal with when checking feedback used to take a couple seconds.

Even though it doesn't apply in this situation, I agree completely with you. I posted an ad shortly after the switch without even thinking it through, and it was a really bad decision. Everything about BST since the switch is awkward, with the lack of feedback glaring. No feedback being displayed really made me uncomfortable, and I'm actually kind of glad with how quickly the ad seemed to slip into the obscurity of page 1.5.

On the old site I was far more skeptical and wary of dealing with Clubwrx members with low post counts than I was with high post count/low feedback members.

Called Ping, pretty much S.O.L as they don't cover the spine of the bag. So like I said I'll try and fix it or will just give the bag to a buddy for free and let him use it or fix it. Will look for a different bag as I don't really want to look at this thing anymore.

Don't know about that. I never blocked people on the old site personally.

This is why I don't do trades. The few that I did, we basically "bought" each others items so that there was recourse. Trading out right imo is not a good idea.

I'll consider that a lesson learned for me. Pretty much no more trading unless in person which I mentioned above.
