What swing change is Spieth working on?

He talked about trying to get more clubface rotation. To me, I saw him weaken his grip a bit for that rotation.

My guess is that since he had issues with hitting blocks off the tee (although overall he was a very good driver of the ball) he was trying to not leave the face so open at impact. I can't say that I'm a fan of this cure. And given how well he struck the ball, even with those occasional block issues, I wouldn't have changed anything to begin with.

Didnt he have a pretty weak grip to begin with?

Tiger ruined all these guys. Just because Tiger could change swings and still compete mid change doesn't mean any other mortal human can. Nick Faldo took 6 months off of competition to rebuild his swing. I'm also sick of these coaches who happen to have a freak star fall in their lap then show up everywhere like they have some secret. If McCormick is the holder of golf secrets where are his other stars?

In fairness to McCormick, he started teaching Spieth when Spieth was 12 years old.

I'll add this: I think Tiger AND Mickelson ruined US, the fans! They fooled us into believing that you could bring it, at least mentally, every time you played for 20 years or more. They fooled us into believing that no matter how much money you've made, you can maintain your motivation and practice habits and work ethic and fire in the belly. And the reality is that most athletes, even elite talents, struggle to maintain all of those things as the years go by.

I don't pretend to know what's going with Spieth right now, and I sort of doubt that he's doing what Faldo did, or what Tiger did several times. But whether he's tinkering or changing, I think the question going forward might be how he deals with the huge early success and having more money than he will ever spend at a VERY young age.

I’d do some research. He has had multiple number 1 juniors, top ams, world number 1 LPGA player in addition to Jordan. Has multiple USGA and Major winners, male and female. Cameron has a very solid resume

This was at Riviera

Not a good take at all. He started working with Spieth when he was like 12 years old...plus he works with a bunch of other tour players including world So Yeon Ryo. Oops

He was winning trophies BEFORE that. These teachers inherit talent then make money off it. I'm not saying they don't know anything, I'm just saying they get WAAAAAAAY too much credit. I truly believe this is why Tiger left Butch. The media was acting like he MADE Tiger. Tiger made Tiger. Spieth is a natural who is now being tinkered with by a guy he trusts. So far it isn't looking good.

I get your point, but Cameron McCormick has taken way more talented kids and turned them into top pros than your average tour coach. There are 1000+ 12 year olds who win trophies for every major winner...don't think its fair to say that a great coach doesn't make a difference. There are probably 1-3 players on tour today who haven't had help from a coach in their career. Even Tiger had hands on instruction from the time he could walk until he went at it himself a couple years ago
