Older Scotty questions

So I'm thinking of purchasing this for $200 including shipping and a brand new pistolini grip. Seller says it was owned by Canadian pro Nick Taylor.

 

1. Does it look legit to those of you that know about these older Scottys?

2. It's 33" with a 350g head weight. I'd want to extend it to 34.5 probably and I dig that it's got the new grip with it for this reason. Will this affect loft/lie if I extend it?

3. Is the 350g too heavy to play over 33"? I know a lot of guys are after the Mil Spec 350g and extend them but how do they play in your experience?

 

Any comments on the condition, price, or anything else welcome!

I have always found the Studio Style a little 'clicky' with the insert, compared to the Studio Stainless - but that is probably just me.

It looks legit to me, I can't speak for the provenance of the previous owners but it is a great price in that condition.

I have put 34" and even 35" shafts on 350g Camerons and it has been fine. Putting is ALL in the head, stick a new shaft in it that suits you and go for it. :-)

If you're getting a Pistolini on it, the 350g is no problem if you go longer than 33. Just for reference, 350/34" is kind of the new standard setup for Scotty with newer heavier grips (Pistolinis are around 76-79 depending on color). 009m heads usually come 34/350 with the Pistolini. If you go all the way to 35, you'd still be within reason. Maybe a little heavier grip if you want it to be in that mid-to-high D swingweight range.

I think I'm just going to buy the stainless. Thing looks flawless and I hear the feel is much better than the insert. For an extra $25 it's a no brainer.

That’s a 350 gram head. Grab it now. It’s a steal in that condition.

$225 is a great deal for that putter!!! Can easily sell it for $275-$300 in that condition. Please use the headcover when you game it!

I have been looking for that exact putter! looks like its in great condition. Had one I had to sell to make ends meet a while back. If you decide its not for you, allow me to call dibs.

Not to alarm you because I may be a fool, but I also noticed before I posted that the size of the "2" in "NEWPORT 2" is curious. I have never seen it where the 2 looks bigger like that. Does it look larger in person?

My favorite Cameron putter. Underrated line IMO. Nowadays that’s basically a tour putter. Seriously. Since this line, there are NO OTR solid, one piece, no insert, no sole weights, 350g Newport’s/2’s. These were the good ol’ days.

I got this extended an inch and a half and it has been amazing. The thing was new and had receipt. Pretty insane. This will probably be in the bag for the rest of my life. It already has more birdies than a few of my old putters combined.

Treat her well, and like some others said above, it's basically a tour stick in my eyes. About as close to TW's gamer that OTR ever got.
