Golf confessions...

Im terrible at course management and/or strategy on how to play certain holes. Mainly from the tee.

Im a single digit handicap and if i get on a tee box and its not blatantly clear that its a driver hole im kind of clueless. My indecision ultimately leads to poor shots.

This applies to courses im playing for the first time and courses ive played many times.

I detest golf carts (and cart paths) and think anyone under 60 should be forced to walk B) .

 

I have never taken a full practice swing and I don't know why anyone bothers with them.

 

When mention of golf comes up, most random people always tell me they hit 300 yard drives and I never confront them on their bull***t.

 

I absolutely hate hearing people's s**t music blaring out of a bluetooth speaker (mounted on a golf cart no doubt) while I'm trying to enjoy this beautiful game. It's bad enough I have to endure mindless, pathetic pop music in various stores & restaurants but now it's invading the golf course. Again, I never confront them on their bull***t.

 

There's a new ad on Golf Channel and it's freaking me out. Love Me, Love Mediheal?????? BTS used to be so dope back in the day...now they're just sellouts! :*

 

I play fast and every other group in front isn't playing fast enough.

 

I think 'holding the pose' is lame, especially on the tee box with driver in hands. I can pick out my ball's flight path in a few miliseconds and if it's good I'm off that tee box a second later.

 

And finally...I think handicapping is by far the most ridiculous thing in golf. I played a lot of team sports all my life and the score always started at 0 - 0. If I suck then I should get my arse kicked, rather than the better player being penalized for all their hard work and dedication.

Few years ago playing with future son in law, a softwear programmer, at my club . Group of visitors in front having a very social time going slower and slower. Daughter told me to be on best behaviour so instead of driving up and giving them an earful I hit up on them ,turned to future SIL and said I better go up and apologise ,he can wait on the tee .

Got to them gave them an earful then said words to effect “by the way hope your under the alcohol limit and your cars are roadworthy my partner is a Cop and is talking about arranging checks in the car park ” Didn’t see them again.

I am trying to imagine my golf life without any handicaps being used... ever. I can't see it being nearly as enjoyable. YMMV.
