Your personal golf wish list

Not talking about wild, mad, wishes here. Just things that you'd like to achieve that stretch your abilities or are just 'uncommon'. Here is my list:

* Hole in one (achieved, May 2017, 4th (was the 13th at the time) Cherwell Edge, UK.

* Drive over the pond on the 9th/18th at Cherwell Edge, UK (achieved from yellow tees, March 2018. Comp tees still waiting - not yet good enough to be worth attempting).

* Drive to the green on the 1st/10th Cherwell Edge, UK.

* Reach the green on the 9th Rye Hill, UK (achieved 19-Apr-2019).

* Break 90 Rye Hill, UK (achieved 19-Apr-2019).

* GIR on the 18th Cherwell Edge.

* HIO 14th Feldon Valley.

* Break 80 Cherwell Edge, UK.

I want to play Sawgrass.

That's it. My one and only.

Not even going to try to get there until and unless I get my game back on track enough to really enjoy it. (Getting closer with each range session!)

Sadly I actually had a chance to play there about 10 years ago - was invited by our pension team. They had a slot open and it would have been free. But I was under contract with DHS to travel up to Ohio to do a "Response To Terrorism" lecture. I tried everything to get someone else to cover that lecture...no dice.

And to top everything off I ended up with food poisoning and was miserable on the flight back.

Play the Dona Pepita course near Mt. Mayon in the Philippines. Kind of dumpy but looks like fun.

Like many here, I'm still waiting on that elusive hole in well. Have come darn close over the years. Spin backs that hit the pin and end up 3 feet from the hole. Shots that end up inches away from the hole. In our group, we have a bunch of single handicaps in that 7-9 range. Even have one that is a 2 and none of us have had a hole in one and we've all been playing 20 years. The only person in our group to have a hole in one is a 15 handicap.

Right now? Play a few different courses than the local ones. Haven't traveled for golf thus far.

Would also like to get an eagle. Had a few good shots at it last year but couldn't sink the putt.

1. Win the Club Championship. I've been playing almost every weekend with the two-time defending champ at my club, and I beat him half the time, so at least I know it's possible.

2. Albatross. I've been painfully close several times, like hitting a drive that ended up two inches directly behind the hole-close. Getting older though, so the chances are getting more rare, especially since my current home course has zero driveable par 4's, and only one (for me anyway) par 5 that is reachable in two.

3. Play at Augusta National, of course. That one isn't going to happen though.

My list is a little less ambitious, but I think achievable (or so I would like to think).

HOI - still waiting, been at it since I started playing, and this is like winning the lottery for me.

Single digit handicap - am so close to this, officially 11, but playing more like a 15 at the moment, and would like to achieve this before I turn 50 (mid 40s at the moment).

Break 80 on a par 72 course - closest I managed was an 81 two years ago before injuring myself. Last year closest I came was an 84. This year, low round on a par 70 is 86.

Eagle - have come close on multiple occasions, but generally I'm putting over 20ft when I do get the chance.

Play on a PGA caliber course at least once in blue skies and no wind (again, like a hole in one, winning the lottery here).

HIO - nope, 6 inches last year, maybe just not meant to be. I did make one once, but it was a re-tee after hitting it in the water (nice par).

Break 70 - this was the biggest goal, and never thought it would happen - 69 - 7/4/17

My biggest wish is to keep playing as much as I have been, also thinking about joining our small town 9 hole club and make the Ryder Cup team.

Get my son started this year.

Hahaha. Mine is just wishing and hoping I can play a round of golf this year. Picked up golf again after a 2-3 year leave.

I don't know anybody who plays other than one of my brothers but he rather go to the range than play a round of golf.

If anybody is in the Dublin, Hilliard, Westerville, Worthington area of Columbus, Ohio and want to play with a ~7 handicap golfer, let me know.

Am I reading the OP correctly? 13 Holes in One? I guess when you have that many the goal changes to calling your shot on which hole you want to HIO next, lol. Hope you get it though.

Mine would be:

1. Break par

2. HIO

3. Albatross

4. Hit every FIR and GIR

5. Bogey free round

6. Under 24 putts in a round

Had to smile at that. I'm currently 21 but am consistently playing in the high 80s and low 90s..except in qualifying comps at my club. I just _cannot_ string a decent round together when it matters and the next bump will make me a 22. On the plus side if/when I do get a decent round it's gonna be a guaranteed win. I can see me getting a net score in the low 60s eventually :)

Lol, no. The hole in one was on the 4th/13th at Cherwell Edge. 18 months after I joined they flipped the back and front around. And then (because the seniors complained) they flipped it back on Monday and Friday which is where we are now. There's not many golf courses where there's an arrow on the club house to tell you where the 1st tee is :)
