Hit well off tee, struggling to use off deck, must have great lie. Seeking recommendations for second shot club and or replacement to use off tee and second shot.

I've used a SLDR mini at 16* and AB TP 14*

the SLDR is better off the deck, but not really a reason I have a mini-driver

would just stick with it off the tee and use a 5/7wood or hybrid as next club down

The SLDR 'S' Mini Driver is an excellent club if you happen to need a Mini Driver. Not for me however, as my 9.5* SLDR-C Driver is so reliable, (and obviously longer), so I have no need for such a club from 'off the tee'.

 

I have tried the 14* SLDR 'S' Mini as a Fairway Wood, and it's fine, but, my V-Steel 3W with a Fuji 757 shaft just refuses to leave my bag!

I have an aeroburner minidriver that I love off the tee... but don’t consider it for hitting off of the deck. I’d suggest a hybrid, 7 wood, or utility iron for a long second shot.

 

Used to love my Adams hybrids, but my swing has changed... and think I might be moving into utility iron territory.

 

I’d suggest to go to your favorite golf store and hit a bunch of different options at the range. With a hybrid, the shaft matters ALOT... as well as if you are comfortable looking at it at address.

I had one meh.... the head seemed dead compared to my X2 hot or biocell 3 woods... have trouble off the tee get fitted for a shorter driver shaft, same goes for your other farway woods...

SLDR Mini, Aeroburner Mini, 2014 Ping Rapture (and the upcoming "The Original One" too I would guess) ... they are all great off the tee (Rapture easily being the best of the bunch) but incredibly inconsistent off the deck. Just added a 14* M6 Rocket 3 to the bag. Not as long as a mini driver, but not that far behind either. Fairway finder off the tee and has a shallow enough face to get it off the deck. I replaced my Rapture with it for the very reason you mentioned, wanted something that was usable BOTH from the tee & the deck. I've only played a few rounds with it & I'll never sell my Rapture, but I'm rather enjoying the M6 3 Rocket so far (though I do hate the name lol).

I have a 16* SLDR TP Mini Driver that I am probably tied to until it dies...I actually just went and bought a second one in case something happens to it. Club so valuable to me that I do not care that its spotty (at best) from the fairway. It is long, easy to hit and accurate for me. Having said that, I did toy with a Cobra LTD 3-4 FW that was both long and easier to hit off the deck - you can get one inexpensively and the reviews on them are great across the board..it's not in the bag because the TM is just so good from the tee and I like the bigger head from the tee.

The PING G410 LST would probably be worth a look. Stock loft is 14.5* but is adjustable and could be a real bomber off the tee but a lot more playable off the turf than the mini driver.

Have you looked at something like the Ping Crossover? You can get an 2 or 3 iron equivalent.

Great insight from all, hit a Callaway 3 wood x2 pro model the other day from a buddy, only from the deck, amazed of the ease and workable shots another let me try out his 2 iron from Callaway, Rogue model. Never a fan of long irons but once again surprised of ball flight. Looks like a bit of tweaking to be done. A few long irons could tame the narrow fairways. Thanks to all!

How many clubs are you carrying? If you are carrying your MD in replacement if your driver you should have room for a normal 3w.

 

If you’re at 14 clubs already try Callaways oversized 3 woods. The x hot/x2 hot 3 deep, big Bertha 1.5 or pings stretch 3w. These are all slightly bigger and lower lofted. Excellent of the tee and a little better off the deck than the MD
