There is a telephone booth just like this one in front of this old hotel where I live. No phone in it. Just the shell I guess you could say. I sooooo want to one night around 3 AM go and steal that sucker. I want to put it in the front yard and grow flowers around it. Lawn art. Museum lawn art. Get Smart lawn art. I don't know. Just another one of my pathetic fantasies.

LOL I remember these too although don't remember where I saw them. School I would have guessed but yeah could have been in dentists office. And yes. Dentist appointments were scary. My Dad took me to dentist who gave us gas on request when there was no reason for it. I'm not kidding. Friggin 70s.

I was never the first one either. And I was always pissed off when the “find the hidden X” in the drawing was already circled so I couldn’t try it.

Who were the self important parents who let their kids circle them like they are the only kids who should be allowed to play?

So do they make you pay your rent daily, weekly. or by the month? Must be a nice old hotel you live in if your room has it's own lawn. :D :)

I did not write my thoughts clearly. I should have said 'an old hotel in the town I live in'.

Yeah there are a lot of words that get censored. I figured you were call ing me the S word, in fun, and I took no offense. In another thread I posted that I clubbed up on a shot and of course I pured the cr ap out ot it and it astersiked that word.

I would've laughed at both. You are right though, I try not to use foul language and as far as I know have never posted any on here.

If I didn't play golf, my record of not speaking it would be a lot better.

I was talking to my wife about this very thing today...back then, my father would pull up to the pump, and an attendant would fill the tank, check the oil, and wash the windshield, because that’s what “service” stations were there for. Dino Soaps were just icing on the cake for us kids in the back seat.

In some important ways, those were better days. ?

Yeah, I'm not sure what the mark was, but when gas hit a certain price people started hitting the self serve stations, in the larger towns. The last station in my home town finally closed when the EPA condemmed their underground tanks. The owner knew he'd never sell enough gas to pay for replacement, and he was in his 70's so it was an easy choice.

At some point, very few people bought their major groceries at the local Red and White, and treated like a conveinence store. They got to where they probably threw away more meat and produce, than they sold, before they finally shut the doors.

I won't go through the whole list, but at least 10 other small businesses are gone, The bank was bought up by a larger firm, and they closed the branches in the small towns. I guess the feed mill is the only business left there now.
