What is your Golf Clothes style? And what is not?

Recommended Posts

I love Puma shorts and have about four different solid colours. They just fit great always so I tend to stock up on a good design. Will only wear pants if temps under 10 degrees celsius.

Name brand polo something new or last season, nothing to loud but I like a bit of colour here and there. Favourite polo is from the Augusta gift shop.(gifted to me of course!)

Ball cap only worn in direct sunlight conditions, never been a hat guy.

Nothing really separating me from the masses. We all look like golfers right?

Early 30’s, southern guy here. I would call my style “classic” or even “preppy”. I stay away from the athletic looks that most of the big brands have gone to. The exception being some modestly designed Adidas shirts. I typically wear Peter Millar, Greyson, Polo (not RLX), and the occassional Foot Joy if I can find the ever-elusive size small. My favorite patterns for shirts are solid and small horizontal stripes. I’m pretty picky on fit. I don’t like the “trim” fits a lot of lines have gone to, but I can’t stand the oversized shirts that many people wear. Fit has to be just right. I’m a fan of chino shorts (always above the knee) and surcingle or needlepoint belts.

However, I have been sucked into the athletic shoe movement. The lightweight comfort is hard to beat. Adidas makes some great ones.

I'm a shorter guy with a skinny waist, broad shoulders, big chest and thighs.

I wear Bonobos & Vineyard Vines shirts, shorts, and pants since they are the only ones that fit me to my liking, every other brand looks like I'm wearing hand-me-downs. Shoes are always G/fore with a Patrick gibbons handmade belt to match.

Linksoul, FJ, Bonobos Golf, Old Navy Go-Dry. The Linksoul and FJ styles are very different, but both high quality. Bonobos is right in-between the two. The ON pants are inexpensive and fit/perform surprisingly well. I also like Nike and Adidas shirts and shoes. Linksoul is at the top of my list, though.

I used to be a UA guy for shirts. I loved the fit of their 'Loose' golf shirts. I don't want anything baggy, but i don't like a shirt to feel 'constructive'. Their old shirts were great, fabric and fit were perfect, they held up forever. I don't like the feel of their newer gear, it feels sort of cheap. I've moved on a lot of Nike shirts. I'm not crazy about their standard fit (sleeves seem a hair to short), but they a reasonably priced. I'm, uh frugal, so I'm not looking to spend more than $50 on golf shirts. I will buy a lot of closeouts or hit the sales, I'm not going to pay $75-$85 a shirt.

I'm pretty basic in shorts. I didn't like UA shorts because they used to have extremely shallow pockets. Again, being frutal, I actually have bought several pairs of the PGA Tour SS housebrand. I tend to stick with the basics - khaki, stone, white, gray, black....and these shorts fit perfectly and look great.

I’m about 95% Nike when it comes to golf attire. I have a few pieces of FJ and Puma. I can’t tolerate really baggy clothes, but not gonna wear super tight clothes either. I did like the Nike athletic fit from the last couple of years, but have pulled most of it from the closet. I guess I tend to fall in between the new trendy looks and old school traditional.

simple and clean, hate baggy clothes, but also can't stand manpri's or wearing shirts that are too small.

most of my golf attire is black\grey\white. I do have some navy, and a few pairs of khaki colored pants.

Mostly Nike, but have grown tired of the odd fitting pants, wear the Old Navy ones or Bonobos.

I've been wearing J Lindeberg golf stuff since they sponsored Jesper Parnevik. Shorts, Trousers, Shirts and knitwear. I will wear the odd RLX or Galvin Green shirt from time to time, but JL is my mainstay.

My rules are simple:

1. No white belts, and preferably no white shoes.

2. No large logos, and preferably no brand logos at all. This means brands like Fairway & Greene, Donald Ross and Cutter & Buck predominate in my closet. Some Lacoste stuff, too.

3. Almost entirely solid shirts, though I'll entertain some noisy prints from makers like Tommy Bahama and Reyn Spooner. Solid shorts of Bermuda length, per my clubs' rules.

4. No white belts.

As long as it’s comfortable and fits, I’m not picky. I tend to stay with grey and khaki pants, and have a bunch of shirts that match well with either. Most of it could be worn in an office environment, but I do have a couple of loud color shirts I keep for the course.

I don’t like tight clothes, but don’t want them falling off of me either. No joggers or slim fit pants or slim cut charts, but no baggy pleated pants either.

I’ve got loads of Kjus gear, waterproofs, windproofs, padded jackets, polos, 1/4 zips and a jumper. I’ve also got a handful of Galvin Green including a windproof and some insulas. I’ve also got a couple of UA polos. I have a couple of Nike and an Oscar Jacobson baselayers too.

Very little else appeals, much of the gear available is too baggy or too long, and much of the styling is awful - I’m looking at you adidas, Puma, Ping, Footjoy, GFore...

And I really, really don’t like polyester pants, so just wear Spoke London cotton trousers in the cold and shorts in the summer. Nice and breathable when it’s hot and they do a thicker pair (Bulletproofs) which also have a water-repellent coating.

Shoes, I like adidas, also have a couple of pairs of Nike, a Footjoy boot and a Duca Del Cosma Kuba.

I’m pretty boring on course. Either Nike or UA shirts in plain colors no patterns. izod shorts usually gray or white or some shade of blue. Nike lunar vapor or Nike AM1 shoes. White hat or visor and belt that matches shorts color. Like i said....boring. But I do have many purple or pink shirts and lots of colors of shorts but I never go patterns. More simple to pair up an outfit that way to me.

I’m kinda old, so it’s Greg Norman for me. Fortunately I’m also in relatively good shape, so I can get away with some of the slimmer-cut things they’ve come out with recently. Quality is there, and the prices are always good at Macy’s, never have to pay anything near what UA, Nike, or Adidas/Footjoy are asking.

Forgot to mention, for a lid, I’ve become partial to Titleist Aussie hats. I’ve had enough issues in recent years that I’m firm a believer in sun protection. Plus I look cool as h*ll in them. ?
