The yellow on the 2018 is new, no? I know the 2017 has a yellow but I mean the shade of yellow. Looks different to me.

more yellow looking or still the puke green/yellow of old?

it seemed more yellow today when I was in store.

just played the project a for 12 holes today....for me, its a balloon ball off the tee in any wind....the rest of the round it was ok near the greens and 140 yards in....but I have to be honest, its not good off the tee for me in any wind whatsoever....the lethal Is so much different....gonna hope for some good sales on the TP5

I used a dozen and won’t play them again for the same reason as you. If you got the ball spinning sideways off the tee it went hard. Try the srixon Zstar xv they are very straight off the tee and around the same price.

Chrome Soft, AVX, Duo urethane. There will be subtle differences but nothing extreme.

I have to respectfully disagree.....the chromesoft ball is noticeably different. Much longer off the tee, over 10 yards consistently and flies 100% better through the wind.....im not talking about 30mph gusts or anything like that. I'm talking normal wind on open holes.....like 10-12 mph...the project a just balloons.....the chromesoft is much better all around.

I play the lethal all the time and love that ball 100%. The chromesoft is a close 2nd.

Had a chance to get out and play 18 yesterday. Ball feels fantastic off the club, especially irons. I play forged irons, and well struck shots felt great. Soft-ish feel off the driver, just as you'd expect from a 70 compression ball.

On the greens, decent short game control. Some rollout on chips and pitches, but not too bad...but greens up here aren't yet in tip top shape and are slow relative to where they will be in a month. Didn't have any sand shots so can't comment on bunker play. As greens around here get smoother and faster with warmer weather I'll be interested to see any affects on short game rollout...I have a feeling that if there will be one issue with this ball, it will be greenside rollout.

Off the putter, for me, is where this ball shines. For my first round of the year, my putting was fantastic. Great feel off the putter, distance control was spot on.

It was a windy day on Saturday, and I must say the ball did ride the wind a bit. This may not be the ideal ball of you have a high ball flight combined with in windy conditions. I've played balls that have cut through the wind better. Temps were cool in the 50s, but I saw no real distance losses from what I had last year playing mostly the Srixon XV.

Overall, for the performance and price point, this is overall a great ball. Very pleased and anxious to see it's performance as the weather warms up.

Agreed, Nels - the Taylormade Project (a) 2018 ball version is probably the greatest ball for the money ever produced in history, but I have found the greenside rollout to be an issue and problematic for me on occasion as well. Putting speed is also a bit slow compared to harder compression balls as well.

That said, I have found that this ball works great in the winter time when air temperatures are cold and the ball gets a bit firmer, and to this present day, I can't quite switch away from using these project (a) balls because their urethane cover feels great on every hit and there is no way I could ever go back to using ionomer or surlyn covered balls at this point.

My only wish is that Taylormade had produced these 2018 project(a) balls in a higher/firmer compression, maybe 77-82 compression would have been ideal, instead of their 70 compression.

Down to my last sleeve of the 2018 Project (a) from the 6 dozen I was able to get at a good deal through a TM rep a few years ago. Disappointed this ball has been out of production for a while because I have enjoyed playing it over the last few seasons. Overall really good for my game with average swing speed and I appreciate the softer feel. I'll start testing some others to replace such as the BRXS which I enjoyed a lot prior to the Project (a) or possibly the Vice Pro Soft. May even look into some lower spin models as well. A bummer it's gone but it was good while it lasted!

I'm not trying to hijack this thread. But...

Is the TR going to be offered in a "new and improved" version in 2022? I believe TR was introduced two years ago.

I'm guessing yes because they are really hard to find right now in stores

I just hope they don’t ruin it. I like the current tour response.
