Headed down next weekend. Wanted to see if you guys had any specific regular loopers you'd recommend for No. 2 or No. 4? PM me if you don't want to specifically call out caddies by name, good or bad.

Might be seeing this a little late, but i highly recommend Tyson, Justin, Jamie, Boss, or Russell as caddies down there. All of them are top notch

Got back on Monday night. Had great caddies for No. 2 and No. 4. Definitely recommend John (Cowboy hat) or Mark (from Iowa originally).

> Bump in this thread. Im going in July and also interested in a caddie recommendation. As for the above caddies, why do you recommend them. What stood out to you? I am scratch and want a caddie with the best knowledge of the greens.

I would stay away from Danny if you're a scratch player. He's a bigger, older (late 50s) guy from the area. Looks like a former football player.

My brother-in-law and I had him last May and while he's a great guy he didn't have any idea how to caddie for a good player. His green reading was way off and he wasn't able to focus in on small targets like we wanted him to. Again, great guy, but more suited for the high handicapper who's just trying to enjoy the day than helping someone score well.

My wife and I played No. 2 this past weekend had Brandt loop for us. I highly recommend him, he was extremely professional, funny, and did an incredible job reading greens (so much so that I'm convinced that I'm not as bad of a putter as I thought, it's just that I can't read greens!). I can't stress enough how much having an excellent caddie really improved the experience, he was always there to give us clubs (he had my distances figured out in 2-3 holes), rake bunkers, clean balls, give general advice, whatever. I'm far from scratch so I can't say how he would have handled that level of player, but he seemed like he was a decent stick himself so you probably couldn't go wrong. All in all playing No. 2 was one of the best golf experiences of my life, in large part due to the job Brandt did as our caddie.

Also, from my experience it appears that the best caddies generally go off in the morning and the afternoon rounds are handled by the "B" caddies if you don't have someone specific lined up. After we finished No. 2 we had a break for a few hours and then played No. 4 with a different caddie who wasn't nearly as good (he basically carried the bag and that was about it).

Will agree with this. And even for high handicappers, he wasn't particularly helpful. Green reading was dubious. No "play as" distances, no warnings of false fronts or the like.

And yes, he played football at Tennessee (if it's the same Danny)

Correct. That’s him. Nice guy just not a great caddie.
