Masters Fashion Commentary

Until this thread, I had just assumed that Adam Scott was wearing rain pants over his regular trousers. If those pants looked that bad on Adam Scott, I'd hate to see what they look like on your typical golf slub ...

Scott's pleated pants were horrible. Bad flashbacks to the early 80's. So baggy. No. Please. Never again Adam! He used to dress very well. Tiger can't entirely resist baggy pants, but he's getting better. Hope Scott doesn't tempt him to try pleats again! I thought Rory was easily best dressed. Simple clean looks, great fit. Finau looked good too.

Adam Scott's trousers were almost as bad as his putting........with the dadgum pin in. I can understand putting with the pin in from long range, but he missed numerous putts from inside of 8 feet with the pin in. Had to be affecting his subconscious. Everything about him at the Masters was just wrong.

Tiger and the mock neck was fantastic. Glad I never got rid of mine from the last go round with them.

Man, Arnie just flippin' owned it, didn't he?!?!?

I may be weird when it comes to my golf fashion, but I loved the clear throwbacks, didn't like the pleated baggies, and have never been a fan of the mock turtlenecks or blade collars.

He misses numerous putts from 8' with the flagstick out. SG Data says that PGA Tour guys are only 50% from 8'.

Throwbacks are good. We just aren't ready for 1920's zoot suits or the 1990's baggy look.

The more fitted stuff, see Arnie above ^, looks pretty good.

A couple thoughts on golf clothes in general: 1) Anybody who wears FootJoy shirts. I think those things are spectacular, especially the self collars that carry the stripes to the collar. They remind me of Peter Millar. 2) The athletic look is good, but now that companies are making their golf pants look like joggers, I'm not a fan. 3) Under Armour puts out the best looks of the "non-traditional" golf companies (Nike, Adidas, etc.).

1. Let's get this out of the way, Adam Scott looked like trash. For those saying its big in Asia right now, when have that been the style capital of the world? For those saying Arnie wore it, just because Mr.Palmer wore it doesn't mean it looks good.

2. Adidas, especially Rahm, looks like PGA Tour branded stuff

3. Nike was kind of weird with the cotton shirts and the shoes didnt make any sense

4. Polo boys were clean as usual.

5. Tiger was the best dressed person on property. The mock is such a strong and classy look, especially that lavender one.

Like with music and comedy, fashion taste is personal. Just because YOU don't like it doesn't mean it's "trash".

Fashion changes constantly. Adam Scott may be a on the edge of the latest thing. The pleated pants and baggy shirts in the 90s didn't seem out of place then. The Ralph Lauren style seems to be the only designs that are ALWAYS on point - if you like it.

I agree with what you’re saying, but I wonder if that was just a Masters thing only. If you search Adam Scott on Uniqlo it still shows the Kando pants and he was wearing them in the tournament leading up to the Masters.

The Nike pants were more of a mustard color. Somewhere between yellow and khaki. Love Palmer's pants. Hate the Nikes. That's just me, though.

I wasn't a fan of Nike's "1990s Tommy Hilfiger" designs, either. The window pane shirts just didn't do it for me.

I thought Tiger looked sharp with the exception of the white belt on Saturday. A nice light gray belt would have looked great with the gray and lavender.

The guys in Peter Millar and Polo looked great as usual.

I'm a big guy with odd proportions. Broad shoulders, chest, hips, and ... eh ... Glutes, but a narrow waist by comparison. As much h as I would love for pleats to return for reasons related to ease of fit and comfort, I have to say I didn't dig Adam Scott's look. I kept expecting him to break I to a swing dance in the middle of the fairway.

My mistake. I meant for my post to read "8 feet and in". I guess saying "inside of 8'" wasn't specific enough. Yes, guys may be only 50% from 8', but their make percentage increase exponentially the closer they get from 8 feet and in.

Point being that, with the flag stick in, the cup looks much smaller, especially to the subconscious mind which plays a huge role in putting. He missed many from inside of 8' with the flag stick in. To my knowledge, he is/was the ONLY player putting with the pin in on EVERY putt. Most guys were leaving the pin in on downhill putts or on long putts, where having the flag in could be to some advantage. However, I felt that leaving the flag in on every putt was working to his disadvantage from a mental view point, especially for a guy who has putting issues to begin with. JMO.

And my point was Adam Scott is a less than stellar putter, from any distance, whether the flag stick was in or out, with a long putter, or a short putter, doing the finger thing for the break or just whacking it. Makes not a matter for him. He just isn't a very good putter. He hasn't asked me for advice but I would tell him don't worry about it so much and just get it to the hole. Free your mind Adam.
