MIZUNO JPX 919 Tour Long Term Review

ProjectX_Mizuno

Recommended Posts

I gave up my 18 year old MP33s for these and I’m loving them, maybe even more than I’d hoped I would. Combine the great feel and sound of the MP33s, but with a half club length more distance and with less harshness on my (frequent) mishits.

Loving the Forged in 5 & 6i way more than I thought too, due to the way they’re extending the bag. I no longer feel like I need to murder a 6i to get good gapping from my 7i.

Tours are the business though. Zero buyer’s remorse.

These are new to me. I've had them for 2 rounds, but I love them. I ordered them with AMT x100s from Mizuno in a D4 swing weight so they had to use heavier heads but wow the flight is beautiful. Previous gamers were Cobra King CB/MB (also with x100) and I do see a bit more forgiveness and maybe half a club more distance but that distance could also be the warmer weather we are having here in East TN compared to the past 4 months. Those features are great but I could play either my current or previous gamers and be happy. The game changer for me is sound and feel of the Mizunos. A much softer feel and more powerful sound with the Mizzy.

I hit the mmc a bit higher, but forgiveness is negligible to me, not a lot in it, mmc May be a touch more forgiving

You talked me into it! Now I just have to wait for DD's to have their $50 off sale and I'll order a set! Thinking about trying the AMT white x100 shafts and this is a good way to do it!

Bump! Want to revisit these. I’ve gamed my set of apex mb raws this whole year but always been curious about these.

Great irons, these have been my gamers for 30 rounds this year.. I actually have 2 sets (proper golf go) :)

Great feel, enough forgiveness.. just wish they had the same lines as the mp18 MBs in the 7 through Pw.. they look like they have more offset than they do because the hostel bends into the leading edge..

Anyway, great irons.. if I can continue to deal with the looks of the 7-pw they will stay in my bag.. but I'm sure I'll be swayed into 718mbs or Cobra MBs shortly

What shafts do yours have? I agree about the comparison to the mp 18’s. The mp’s Look much more compact and shorter heel to toe whereas the jpx’s almost look longer and thinner.

Cannot speak to the SCs, but the 919Ts are definitely more forgiving than the MBs.

For me the MBs definitely cost me strokes, with the Ts I happily take the blame for the results.

Mizuno says they are more forgiving than the SC and nearly as forgiving as the MMC.

They’re not quite in AP2 class forgiveness wise but the ball flight is better and they are easier to play in windy conditions.

I am playing DGS400 TI.. I went from X7 double soft stepped, to X100 to these again.. I always go back to the DGS400, just great all around shaft.. I have hit these with Modus 120 and they felt great but my distances were off (they flew longer because of the reduced spin)

Have only had mine a week but they are amazing. Played AP2s for years and finally made the switch. More forgiving than expected and launch/flight/spin couldn't be better. So much better than my spin monster AP2s I just can't hit any more. Only thing I need to probably do is swap out the forged 5 iron for a tour 5 iron since they are easier to hit than I thought.

Was fitted into the JPX 919 tour with CTaper 130x. The irons themselves are gorgeous but highly considering returning to get x100's. The feel is incredible on full shots and turf interaction is second to none but I believe the Ctaper is holding me back from performing my best on less than full shots.

I demo'd these for weeks and LOVED them. Ended up going Srixon Z785 but pretty sure I'm gonna sell the Srixon's soon and go into these. I love the Srixon's but the spin is a little too low for my ball flight. These are perfect and WAY easier to hit than I figured they'd be.

Piling on highlighted portions above as I agree completely. Nothing is remotely close to AP2 for forgiveness in the same size chassis but these are way more forgiving than one would guess given the size of the cavity and the launch and spin are ideal. Mine are 1 degree weaker loft than my AP2s yet I’ve gained 5-7 yds per club on a more penetrating ballflight that still has plenty of stopping power. I also intend to bench the Forged 5i and replace it with a Tour 5i.

Bump. Been playing my set for the past month or so now, absolutely love them, Much better turf interaction that my callaway apex mb raws, the only thing i'm deciding is if I should try to replace my fli hi 4 iron with a 919 forged one.
