Mizuno-More important than the feel....Mizuno is one of the most amateur friendly OEM's in market!

I have played multiple Mizuno forgings and can't whole heartedly agree that "nothing feels like a Mizuno".

But, after looking for my first GI iron to experiment with, my appreciation for Mizuno's business model in custom builds was totally reinforced! According to the shop I ordered from, it is making a difference with other buyers too with increased volume at his store.

While I believe most OEM's design quality products these days that perform great, Mizuno builds that product the way you need it without a bunch of up-charges. Obviously no one is going to pay me to play, but at least Mizuno does not charge me extra to play with what I need. When shopping my only two requirements were a build with Recoil 95gm stiff shafts and mid-size grips. I wanted 5i-PW only as I have the wedges and 3i/4i covered. Price for my 6 Mizuno GI's was $650 plus tax at my local shop. Price for other OEM's similar (in my eyes) products was a s***ton (technical term) more.

My question is, are other WRX's seeing this and does it make a difference in your buying decisions? When you get fit, does price make a difference when choosing if performance is close or does the absolute best numbers over-ride everything. Or is it feel and looks or what your favorite PGA player plays?

I know for me price is not the overriding factor in my choice. But what does make a difference is my perception that Mizuno caters to my amateur needs instead of charging me more and paying it out to a PGA professional for marketing.

This is not meant to be a rant, more of just an observation and wondering how others see it for the sake of conversation.

You wouldn't feel that way about Mizuno if you were a lefty.

No doubt about that. One of my favorite all time is the MX200. I still, to this day, kick myself for not keeping them. I took the blue badges out of the cavity and they rocked. Damn I was stupid to get rid of them.

I never did really understand why they only offered LH in the 52, 3, 4 series and then the 68s. No lefty in the low 60 series. Would have been a beautiful combo setup - one I would have played.

I would love to try the driver this year, the one with the sliding weights - but alas, no lefty.

To be honest IMO the only OEM still ripping you off for upcharges is Ping. They have by far the worst shaft selection, but even they offer more than anyone else in terms of loft customization as a "standard set". So there's something to be said for every OEM

Have you checked out Cobra? You can get 20+ different shafts including "high end" offerings like the Nippon Modus 130 as a no-upcharge even on their more affordable sets like Forged Tec. Mizuno has a nice shaft selection too but they don't offer that

The new Apex pro from Callaway is only 150$ more expensive here than the 919 Forged and has a wider shaft selection (pretty much all DG's, Nippons, KBS or PX are available). Grips are similar, i can't remember which MFR it was but some of them offer like 50 different no-upcharge grips

I've been checking out a lot of irons lately, most MFR's offer a lot of custom options now which is great. Too bad i kinda want Ping's!

I know but that's still not a lot. S300, KBS tour, PX LZ. A few lightweight ones.

Nothing to write home about. Probably a little something for everyone but no c taper, no PX, no AMT, no modus 125 or 130 etc.

Almost every other MFRs will offer every shaft Ping does plus 10-15 more

I started with a test 7i HMP, then slowly added the rest of the set. Price is more than fair, enough no-cost options to keep me happy, shipping was quick and they perform great. Not a lot to hate there...

At one time Mizuno made LH Blade irons, but they weren't found here in the United States.

The Mizuno USA person was left handed, and at the time commented about the lack of LH golf equipment, saying, "I have nowhere to hide." Dont know what happened to him.

Mizuno posted their reasoning for the lack of LH models on their website.

Even though it is 2019, and LH golfers have been on National Championship Teams, Mizuno has no plans to offer a LH version of their Tour irons. Another year of -RH Only.

For G410 they'd be fine. For I210 I'd want something easier to get the 3-4 irons higher, AMT tour white or Nippon 130's. Been having problems lately with launch of low lofted irons. Next iron set will probably be one of those 2 shafts unless I go SGI
