What would a reasonable 500 ball challenge be for a bogey golfer

AS obviously made a HIO on a real golf hole in less that 500 shots. Now that would be almost impossible for a HCP14 guy like me. I have played golf since the 80's and have only hit the flagstick once. For the average Joe golfer, what would a reasonable 500 ball challenge be? Holing a wedge shot from 70 yards on a relatively flat green?

That actually sounds real reasonable. Sinking a 90 foot putt on a very undulating green with a stimp of 13?

I honestly would love to try this myself and see ...

I feel like I have a few holes in one at the range if you know what I mean, but clearly, there are lots that dance around the cup even hit the stick and still don't go.

I think for a bogey golfer leaving it to a foot seems easily attainable

single digit maybe hit the stik and/or leave it within inches

The 500 ball challenge for a 14 handicap would be to hit 500 balls without injuring themselves.

If you look, it needs to be hit 90 degrees accross from the hole, hit the landing spot perfectly, hops 3 times then checks on a dime (thats the key), right on the spot necessary to catch the slope and roll in.

Any pro or even a very good golfer could do it, could take them 10 tries, could take a hundred.

But a bogey golfer or worse most likely doesnt have the ability to plan the shot or check the ball like that. Could they do it? They could get lucky in 500 tries. Or not ; )

They may not be able to plan the shot for their first try. But after hitting a few, the line would become clear. And there are at least a dozen ways to chip it in. You wouldn't have to follow Tiger's path.

I'm not much better than a bogey golfer and I spin chips all the time. It isn't difficult.

Phil's six iron out of the pine straw on #13 couldn't be duplicated by a bogey golfer regardless of how many balls he had.

Unless you do it how TW did and go accross, bump the fringe, and deaden it that high, you are talking about taking a more direct route toward the hole, hitting a downhill chip, not getting anywhere near enough spin to slow it down, and it blowing down the slope on a green that

Can run on a stimpmeter at over 16 and basically be like asphalt.

High handicap could sit there for days and not make it

Agreed. That’s why I didn’t suggest it or Tiger’s shot at Glen Abbey

The bogey golfer could easily duplicate the putt that followed.

Yes, the Tiger shot at Glenn Abbey would be impossible for a bogey golfer.

When I played there, my caddie took me to that spot on 16 and I hit a couple of chips. You could actually make it with a putter. Or you could use a lob wedge and go right at the hole.

Chip in from 60 yards I think can be done. Also, after that's done they probably would have become a 10 handicap with all that practice.
