I know they hosted the ryder cup there about 10 years ago, and I think it is Kenny Perry's home track. I've never played it, but I'd imagine its amazing.

Yeah, I've heard nothing good about Prestwick, even from government officials from that side of town I play with once in a while.

Played it last year, going to skip it this year while they get it together, will give it a shot in 2020...

4 of us adventured around Brickyard Crossing yesterday. The pay-the-temperature rate this time of year is tough to beat compared to their prime season rate. They took out a bunch of trees throughout the course, but not so many that it dramatically impacted play. Just enough wind blowing that the ending stretch played long. Always recommend it.

Anyone want to play in/around Muncie next Wednesday afternoon, 4/3? I have a meeting until about 215 or so but can play afterwards.

Played River Glen today. Ok shape for this time of year. They cleared out some trees along the river. But they also flipped the 9's which I thought was a curious move. The scorecard and cart book are still from the layout the way it has been the last few years since I moved here, but the signage suggests the flip with new tee markers. It makes the new 17-18 (old 8-9) arguably the toughest finishing 2 holes around here. But the way the old 15-18 (now 6-9) are in the neighborhood and so different from the other holes it just feels more natural to finish on them, even if the old 18 (now 9) is a ho-hum par 4. Was nice that it would dump you right in the parking lot too. Now I guess you have to pass the clubhouse at the turn and on the way to the car - more chances to stop in for food/drink.

Also who bought new hybrids and played 31 holes with them before realizing there were stickers on the face of the clubs? That would be me. Still hit them well with the stickers.

How has the early season been for everyone so far? I've played three times so far, and I've yet to get it figured out on the greens. My number of three putts Thursday was probably in the neighborhood of 6-8. It was ugly. We played Southern Dunes which has a solid deal going $18 for 18 holes with a cart on Thursdays. They also have deals for cheap hotdogs and brews on Thursdays. A round under 20 bones with a cart in Indy is a steal. The course was in good shape for the time of year, and the greens rolled well. I forgot how many holes had forced carries and water on them. Its a links style layout and one of my favorite in town between it and hickory stick we've got two super solid links style tracks on the south side of town. I'd highly recommend checking it out.

Question for this week: What course is on your bucket list for this season you haven't played yet? Mine is Glendarin Hills in Angola

I've never played The Brickyard so that needs to happen this year. Though I've played it a few times, I'd like to see a few of us go up to Rock Hollow this year. An employee there is a member here and says it'll be in better shape this year. I'd like to support them.

What year is this again? Where am I?

I went on vacation for a couple of weeks to come back to a very strange WRX... and just realized I missed a few posts in this very important thread.

I'm helping with the local HS team again this year so evenings are filled with their practices and matches BUT I'll be ready to play in June.

My golf will be much more limited come early August when DrOldSchool becomes PapaOldSchool, but I would like to do an overnight trip or two somewhere around the state and get in as much as possible before then. Angola for Glendarin/Cobblestone is an option since I've never played those. But I'm also considering courses I've played like Belterra/Rising Sun and/or Chariot/Sultans. I'd consider the Warren course too since I've never played it, but I'm not sure when it'll shut down for the Sr. Open. Anyone know? Their website doesn't mention anything.

I've also got some group golf deals to burn at Purdue and Hylands so I need to get out to those soon. Always up for Rock Hollow, and can be talked into Brickyard rather easily.

Must of been a heck of a vacation!!

@HH

Been playing about 7-8 times and not really in a groove yet..lol.

Hit up Royal Hylands this weekend...it's in good shape, but #10 is still temporary green...which drives me bonkers!

Going to play Fox Prairie this year, my cousin/golfing partner lives beside it now and neither of us has played it before.

Don't know if it comes up on Group Golfer or not??

@"Doc

Get it in while you can...and congratulations!!!!

Fox Prairie is not on any of the discount sites - used to be. Play it twilight for about $30 and it's not a bad deal. Can play all 27 for around $40 or so twilight too. It's not a bad course, couple of goofy holes on it (looking at you #8 east). Your cousin is only a few minutes from Bear Slide there too.

Paul we need to play that Brookville course soon too. I fished the lake last week, and the course looks like a great layout

I'm in for that! Just let me know when you want to do it and I will try and go...fairly short drive from my house 40 minutes. I like that course and have some GG coupons for 25$ for it.

I'm in for Harbor Shores at some point. Need to get out to Hylands already.

Fort was in good shape today, except for the ant hills on the greens. Even had the stubborn slow as molasses foursome holding up the entire course just like in the summer.

Playing 36 at Purdue on 4/20 (Saturday). Room for 1 more if anyone is interested.

Purgatory was in ok shape this morning. They had some winter/frost kill on some greens that'll probably work itself out. Otherwise it was solid.

If you haven't seen it, the devotional pass they are selling on their webpage is well worth it, especially if you play there a few times a year or more. I'll be out there several times as Mother Nature allows over the next couple weeks to take advantage of the offer: [https://purgatorygolf.com/store/?utm_source=SilverPopMailing&utm_medium=email&[email protected]&utm_content=&utm_campaign=C%20Purgatory-%2078940%20Devotional%20Pass%20Offer%2004112019%20(Master%20Template)%20(1)&spMailingID=15450836&spUserID=MjA1MzgwNzUwNzMwS0&spJobID=1620725776&spReportId=MTYyMDcyNTc3NgS2#!/Devotional-Pass-Early-Season-Special-Offer/p/133774030/category=25763581](https://purgatorygolf.com/store/?utm_source=SilverPopMailing&utm_medium=email&[email protected]&utm_content=&utm_campaign=C%20Purgatory-%2078940%20Devotional%20Pass%20Offer%2004112019%20(Master%20Template)%20(1)&spMailingID=15450836&spUserID=MjA1MzgwNzUwNzMwS0&spJobID=1620725776&spReportId=MTYyMDcyNTc3NgS2#!/Devotional-Pass-Early-Season-Special-Offer/p/133774030/category=25763581 "https://purgatorygolf.com/store/?utm_source=SilverPopMailing&utm_medium=email&[email protected]&utm_content=&utm_campaign=C%20Purgatory-%2078940%20Devotional%20Pass%20Offer%2004112019%20(Master%20Template)%20(1)&spMailingID=15450836&spUserID=MjA1MzgwNzUwNzMwS0&spJobID=1620725776&spReportId=MTYyMDcyNTc3NgS2#!/Devotional-Pass-Early-Season-Special-Offer/p/133774030/category=25763581")

I got it. Played 4 times this year already. Good value. Even mid midseason at peak rates saves you money. Played today and it was really soft in the fairways. Greens were good though.

All Clubs subject to change relative to my last bad round of golf......

I played 36 there yesterday (4/17), I was in the Delaware golf hat if you saw me.

Still looking for 1 more for Purdue but on 5/11 now rather than this Saturday since the weather stinks.

Took a little overnight trip to play a few courses to our north... Glendarin Hills (Angola), Angels Crossing (Vicksburg, MI), Harbor Shores (Benton Harbor, MI), and the Warren Course at Notre Dame. Some highlights and comments about each:

Glendarin Hills - Really enjoyed this course and it's worth of the accolades it receives. Great mix of holes and layout. I think it's up there with the best public courses in the state.

Angels Crossing - this was a personal favorite of mine when I lived in Kalamazoo. Course changed ownership a few years ago and it's a little rough around the edges in spots. But it's a great layout with some of if not the biggest greens I've ever played on.

Harbor Shores - This course is bizarre. Nicklaus took what was an industrial wasteland of empty Whirlpool factories and such and turned it into a beautiful golf course that has unique character. That said you drive several minutes between holes at times, and the holes are not alike at all - some are dunes-links style, some are parkland, some in a river bed, some are more traditional. Some of the greens are circuses as evident by the infamous Miller-Nicklaus putt when it opened. It's got every design quirk imaginable. Still fun, but it's a bit of a mind warp.

Warren Course at Notre Dame - The course is undergoing heavy prep for the U.S. Senior Open. They're already building the grandstands, and they were top-dressing the fairways having done the greens a few days ago. So that made me a bit upset that I still paid full freight for it. They also rerouted the course, so 1-18 the way it'll play this year at least through/during the Senior Open is normal route 16-18 then 10-15, then 7-9, then 1-6.
