Taylor made m6 driver weight

Anyone know if they sell aftermarket weights for the back weight port in the m6 driver? I am thinking of shortening the shaft and will need more weight in the head to offset the difference.....I don’t know how many grams the stock weight is either so this might be a long shot......

TM doesn't sell them directly from their site yet, but Billy Bob's Golf has them. I have used them for TM weights on the last 3 heads I owned.

I am thinking of making it 44.75 from the stock length. It has the tensei orange 65 gram shaft. So for an inch shorter, would a 12 gram weight be enough to maintain the swingweight?

 

I just did a chat with Taylormade customer service and they refused to tell me how many grams the stock weight is because it is “proprietary information they can’t release”. Wow, it’s a weight.....This attitude is why I haven’t had a Taylor made product in many years. I should have listened to my gut and bought the Ping.......I guess I just have to pull it and weigh it which will cause more downtime....

It's probably more like 10g to keep the weight the same after cutting down an inch. I would pull that current weight and weigh it with a kitchen scale if you want to know. I would also look at Hotmelt for the weight personally instead of aftermarket screw weight. Just a thought.

If you hotmelt the M6 it will change the sound of the driver... I cut my tensei white pro down to 44.5" and had to hotmelt the head back up to 213g to get to D6 and it has a much more muted/dead sound now (which I like personally), but some people like the louder/crunchy sound of the stock head.

I agree about weighing the existing weight to know what you have, but the aftermarket weights from BillyBobs are not like the POS weights that you get on ebay. They make weights for all of the new clubs every year, and I have a hard time telling them apart from my OEM weights. With their weights, you have the ability to switch them out if you want to change it up later. With hotmelt, once it is in there is no getting it out.

Go with Billy Bobs. Then send the torx bit you will need. I got an 8 gram and play at 45”. Works great, but I like hotmelted heads and may go that route (if I keep it- PXG fitting in a few weeks).

To clarify, Hotmelt is just my personal preference. Agree it's not for everyone and is definitely more permanent, but I think any driver will benefit from it both for sound and feel.

Hotmelt sounds like a good plan...what is a good middle of the road swingweight? Stock specs say its D3 at 45.75 length, I may need a lot of glue to get it back there if I cut it to 44.75....

I knew I could have ordered it 45 and d3 but if it needed tipping then u have to take from one add to other end, this way Ill try it long and go from there. Feels long tho,

D3-D4 is pretty standard. Just remember the more weight you put in the head, the softer the shaft will feel, so you may want to tip it some to counter that or just be aware that it might launch a bit higher and more to the left (assuming RH golfer).

You can always hotmelt it back to D3 or 4 at the cut length with say a 6g weight in it, then you still have room to move the swingweight up or down by just changing the weight.

I hit mine today , the length was not as bid a factor as I thought , still I have always felt longer shafts makes me looser. I did have a rattle in the head but bought the bit for the weight and tightened it seems better. I will say with only one sessions the thing is straight , the shaft goes higher than I was thought ,high draws were nice.
