I hate those squishy grips. The Eye 2 are Blue dot, ZZ-lite, 3-LW (LW eye 2+), nice Ping standard Velvet style grips. I'm keeping those for sure

I think the Graffaloys are R flex. An R is the only lone letter I see around the logo, but it's not "arranged" in an area like most shaft flex designations. Funny on the JZ's, at least one of the I3 OS sets had JZ shafts in them. I didn't grab those, but I probably will at some point to see how they play. The head on those is not as big as the G series irons. Top line is rather skinny for an OS iron head.

The BeNi heads look to be in very nice shape. Not much play. The soles don't much wear. Those crappy grips are gonna keep me from hitting them. I may re-grip one of them.

OH trust me they will stay rusty but not that rusty--- Will probably hit them some this weekend and knock the rest of the rust off. These are so rusty I had to really look to identify them as Mack Daddys--- By the shape and profile I thought at first I had found some more rusty 588s which would have been ok too. Which they will rust back being raw and the climate I live in

Yes, original equipment, never used. Just like the first set I purchased after I graduated from college and started my "real" job back in 1989. My brother has my original set (3-PW) but those have battle marks in them. These are a lot like a compact forged blade from Miura. I will probably put these in play and see how they work. Lofts are weaker than today's standard. I will probably bend these a couple degrees stronger to get closer to today's standard. I'm really excited to get these. Now I have to move a couple/three sets I no longer use.

Beautiful sticks! I'd be wary of bending what little bounce there is out of them. I just flipped a set of JNP Forged cavity backs from roughly the same era and there wasn't any noticeable bounce until the 6 or 7 iron in that set. They were also a good 1/2" short. Maybe add a 2 iron? Just a thought.

I have my original Muirfield 20th 1 iron that I used to game at home. Of course that was with a high spinning balata golf ball in play as well. If I bend these I will only do a couple of degrees so nothing major.

Great find, I'd have felt the same were I near enough not to have to pay overseas shipping costs.

Had a good day today. Played 9 with the hiro honmas The ‘extra 90 ‘driver is giving me one of the best ball flights I can remember for a driver and the sound is addictive EXCEPT I hit the ball ,it soars on a great trajectory and I reckon 250+ but when I get there 230 max.

Anyway

Got home the same time Fedex arrived with the Penna. Whoopee.

Comparison to honma , much heavier head. Feels good.

Started stripping varnish. a27qoevpeqzk.jpeg

Great find. I have a 3-PW set of the 20ths in very good condition, but nowhere near as gapped as that. They are one of my favourite iron sets I have, and I agree with the comparison to Miura's compact forged blades.

I have a Honma Extra 90, and I agree with you about the flight; it's lovely to hit. It came in a bunch of 5 or 6 Honma woods (including a left-handed one. Anyone want a left-handed Honma Persimmon...?). There was an LB300 that I was really after, but that actually turned out to be a dud. I think the LB model is a low-spin head, and I had real problems getting any kind of distance with it. May be better with balata balls. Anyway, the Extra 90 and another model (Distance 90, I think) were the stars of the bunch. I left them with a veteran pro a couple of weeks ago to see if he could refinish them, but he said it was too difficult to strip the varnish. When I get them back, I might well be posting here for help on refinishing myself.

LOL my buddy the local Miura dealer was giving me some flack about my Muirfields one day. I told him that they were good enough for a man named Nicklaus to win 18 majors with on top of other tournaments. Besides Miura copied them with the baby blade and tournament blade as I compared one of his demo BB 7 irons to my Muirfield 7 iron--- He promptly shut up end of discussion--- Now not to make fun of Miura because they make one great feeling blade. Of course my Muirfields look exactly like VIPs to me

This is going to sound funny as heck but a lot of serious Macgregor collectors would buy them for the boxes alone. IMHO even though they are department store clubs they have to be worth something un hit original grip etc to a serious Macgregor collector

Looking at the back of the irons they look exactly like the Macgregor Tour Blades which came out around 86 or so. I could not tell from the other photos but do they have the boxed groove faces like say a 985 does? The Mac Tour Blades I own have the boxed groove faces like a 985 Tourney. Those are one nice set of perfectly preserved irons and woods

Ok, I finally got around taking better quality pictures and actually going thru the contents of the boxes... white glove treatment! PW-3 irons and 1,3,5 woods. For everybody’s viewing pleasure, specially Macgregor’s aficionados, I unveil The Texan, directly from The Vault that’s been sealed for 30+ years... ?

Does anybody have any info directly from the Kaplan?y8ptnxbes8fv.jpeg
