ClubCorp Courses in San Diego

Recommended Posts

WRXers, going to be in SD for work end of next month and I’m a ClubCorp Travel member. Can you rank the following courses for me? I’ve got two days to play the 4 so may be able to do 36 or 54 tops. Thanks.

Morgan Run Club & Resort

Bernardo Heights CC

Omni La Costa

Shadowridge Golf Club

Also, of the clubs listed that have 18+ holes (I think Omni and Morgan Run are the only ones), which course there is better? With CCT usually I don’t get to choose but it’d be good to know.

STEALTH 2 Tour AD DI 6X //  SIM Oban Devotion 65-04 //  699 v2 MMT105s //  JB Full Groove MMT105w //  TOULON ATLANTA //  Vice Pro+

I would rank them

Omni South

Omni North

Shadowridge

Morgan Run

Bernardo Heights

Was just at La Costa. Didn't play but greens looked pure and the South was in better shape.

Just got back from San Diego little over a week ago. These rankings are correct. The omni courses were better than shadowridge but the greens were immaculate at shadowridge, even better than aviara. Morgan Run and Bernardo heights were just ok. Nothing special. I would honestly switch those out with another course.

If you are willing to drive little extra, Coto de Caza should be on the list.

I'm actually headed up to my hometown of Long Beach, CA after my round on the 2nd day, may try to get off really early in the morning and play Coto de Caza in the afternoon.

South would be easier than North. Both RTB courses. Have fun.

Is it a pretty strong consensus that the La Costa Legends is better than the Champions course? It seems based on the website that the Champions has hosted 37 PGA events and is a little longer and more challenging.

I will be playing in about 2 weeks, anyone know what kind of condition La Costa is in right now?

Played about 2 weeks ago. Greens and tee boxes were good. Most fairways were good, only a few bad spots. We played after all the rain and it was cpo. Wuold say not worth the morning green fee rate but plenty fine for the cart fee only rate. We played the Champions course and enjoyed it.

I just got it booked this morning on the Champions course. Looking forward to it! Just wondered if I should try to switch over to the Legends course if it's significantly better layout or condition.

Great info, thanks! We will be playing in the afternoon so my guest will be paying ~$85 inc. cart and just a cart fee for me.

It does look like it's supposed to rain a bit next weekend so we may have the same issues, hopefully the weatherman is wrong.

My Guy! I'm from Long Beach also and I'm a CC Travel Member also! When back down, let's link up for a round!

Only North Course. Lot of work currently on South. Some temp greens due to greens surrounds work.

North has major project starting mid june

Thought I'd chime in here as a member of Morgan Run. They've had some MAJOR issues with the greens on the East course and even some on the North and both practice greens. It is unbelievable how bad it is. It is the worst I've ever seen in my life including public courses. Club Pro Guy could film his parodies on these greens and his greenskeeper Miguel would be a welcome upgrade to our staff. They just fired the head guy and are doing everything they can to fix it obviously but I can't see how they're gonna turn these greens around anytime soon. They are absolutely trashed. The East course has been closed for almost 2 months aside from a handful of days. And today these geniouses in management have a Memorial day shotgun with only 18 holes open so the course is PACKED leading up to the 1pm event and effectively closed to members until maybe 5pm. This tournament is supposed to promote new members. Man they're gonna be horrified when they see the conditions. The golf staff are super friendly and the vibe at Morgan Run is great when all courses are operational. Things have really be spiralling downward quickly, however. They need to turn it around fast or they're gonna lose tons of members. I just joined a year ago and plunked down $550 on the cart plan for the year otherwise I'd have canceled already. I'm just hoping the new superindenent can pull off a miracle.

The cart fee is up to over $800 now lol. I played there two weeks ago, and left after 15, cause we were coming up on our 5th hour in the round.

I was shocked that they would even be marketing and pitching this club with the conditions so abysmal. I honestly couldn't comprehend how garbage the entire facility was.

Is La Costa still part of Club Corp / Invited?

I can’t seem to find it on the list anymore, so guessing not…

No, it isn't.

Shadowridge, Morgan Run, and the Heights.

There's also a restaurant part of the club in Downtown.
