Well, to be fair the new TP5's are $59.99 and the Mizuno's are $54.99/dozen. We don't often get deals on golf balls. Although, I picked up a few dozen of the pre-2019 TP5x for $30 Cdn/ea I also remember grabbing a few dozen Z-Star 's last year for $25 a dozen. But that is rare. If you buy golf balls at the courses, you usually pay more, but rarely do you ever pay less

played 18 today with the RB tour X and was left feeling underwhelmed. wasn't a terrible ball in any aspects of the game but nothing shined either...distance was about the same as any premium ball but slightly shorter into a head wind. feel was about on par with a ProV1, i could imagine the RB tour must be softer...but the surprising thing was how little spin i was getting from the wedges. definitely not the check i would get from a prov1. felt like around the greens i'd have to play for more run out. durability wasn't as bad as some of the others were claiming, but i didn't hit any trees or cartpaths. the full wedge shots did leave small groove marks but nothing i'd think was unplayable afterwards. these balls should be in the 29.99 category and i think alot of people would enjoy them. i myself wouldn't bother buying these as for my game there are better performing options. hurts to say as i'm a mizuno fan.

I haven’t tried them myself but a friend of mine put the tour x in play last weekend and had some major durability issues. He split a ball open on each of the first two holes with wedge shots. I have never seen him split his usual gamer (pro v) open and we play together at least once or twice a week. I can’t see myself ever trying them based on that experience.

Played the x against z stars for 9 holes today. Was pretty wet. Didnt notice any unusual wear. Was dead even with the driver distance wise. Also didnt notice it being shorter on my.irons since the spin so much

My first round with the RB Tour X fooled me. No visible damage, looked perfectly fine as far as durability goes.

Second round it actually encountered a few bunkers and tree limbs and what not. Looked like a Pro V1 might look after 72 holes and then a spell in my shag bag. Really beat up. So much so that I retired it after about 12 holes of that second round (30 holes total). Put a second one in play and after the last 6 holes of that round and one more full round it also looked pretty bad (not as bad as the first one).

It just can not deal with trees, cart paths or hardpan without damage. Basically about 2005-era urethane durability, nothing at all like current balls.

One of the Mizuno Reps on Twitter replied to a comment about the lack of durability. He said Mizuno heard the complaints and have made changes to improve durability of both RB Tour models.

I've really liked my Mizuno clubs since getting off the Ping bandwagon a while back. But after trying a sleeve of the RB Tour there's just not anything about them that would convince me to switch even if they improve the durability. Honestly, it plays about like a Pro V1 or most other urethane balls (no surprise there). And I've used Pro V1x for so long that's where habit keeps taking me back.

I did play one breezy round and think Mizuno are right about it being pretty unaffected by the wind. For a ball that seems to spin plenty, it holds its line very well on, say, a 6-iron shot with a 10mph cross wind.

was about to buy these black friday. but took some time to read through this discussion a bit. Seems like to summarize: Distance is fine off the tee (7/10). Distance with irons is poor (2/10). Spin around the greens is good (8/10). Durability has completely mixed reviews so maybe (6/10). Does this all seem accurate?

Distance is on par with other premium balls with all clubs. The RB Tour balls seem to check more around the green for me. Durability is on par with other premium balls.

After watching the TXG review and looking at the numbers I came to the conclusion that the RB Tour X spins a little too much killing distance so I opted for the RB Tour. Coming from a ProV1x. Performs great for me. No problems at all.

Got some of the Xs in a trade... not impressed at all and would not likely ever buy these on my own. They look like a Balata or something with deep dimples and the seam looks pronounced from the right angle. Maybe I got some early ones as the durability is garbage... Distance seems ok, little shorter than the BXS or XV I normally play, and seems to fly a little lower off the driver. I'm a Mizuno fan, but not of these balls.

Mizuno asking premium prices on a product that seemed like Mizuno did not thoroughly test is really unacceptable.
