Baffler F6 that good?

Norboo

Recommended Posts

Mine just arrived from Rockbottom and I have to say I'm a huge fan so far (and can't beat the price). I've been struggling for something in the 5 wood / Hybrid / 3 irons space for a long time and I think I may have finally found the answer. I've never been able to find a hybrid that worked for me and this seems to fit me much better out of the gate.

I used to game little 7 woods back in the day (before hybrids were a thing) so the head shape feels great to me; also I think the baffler tech is actually doing something (compared to most golf tech which seems to... well not).

Just have the stock shaft and grip right now (weight back I think? that is how it comes out of the box right?). May try and figure out something a bit heavier eventually for the shaft but liking it a lot right now with the short shaft.

This was a fairly new addition for me. When it was cold, it was my 205yard club. Yesterday, playing a new course for the first time I had a 217 yard par 3 requiring 207 carry over water. My ball hit about 10 feet short of the flag and ended up just past the flag for easy birdie. I am finding it great to gap between my 4i and my 3 wood. Of course shaft is important for all of us and this was a club included in a trade that I had no real interest in, but the shaft is a perfect fit for me.. Now, no interest in moving it out of the bag.

I love mine!

Has anyone tried two bafflers out? I remember reading somewhere someone was considering it, but i don't know the results. I am thinking one stock length at 19 as a hybrid replacement and the other maybe 1/2 or an inch longer at 16 as a 3 wood replacement. I hit this thing really well, so i think it may be redundant. I am wondering if anyone had results that would indicate it being a viable option?

I briefly tried it. Set the 16 with weight forward (lower flight, more roll for tee shots), 19 with weight back (higher flight, more forgiving for approach shots). It didn't really work out for me. I ended up adjusting one to 16.5, then putting my 19* hybrid back in the bag.

I really wanted to make the baffler work, but I fight a hook and it just sat too closed for me, even cranked open. Crank it open too much and it doesnt gap well with the 3w. Probably better as a 3w replacement than a 5w/hybrid replacement for my case but I really like my 3w (m3 16.5HL). Ultimately went to standard 5w playing at 41.75" (also M3).

I'm playing an F7 hybrid and two high lofted fairway woods and love them. Very similar clubs to the Baffler since they have rails. I did install heavier than stock shafts though. Anyway, real winners.

That was me. I played around with it on the range, but never actually gamed it. Mainly for the reason I hit irons better than woods.

Russ thanks for getting back to me. I may actually give it a go to see how it turns out. I hit woods these better than my long irons, so I this may work out. Also a short knocker, so woods are an important part of my getting around the course.

I also used 2 Baffler’s at one point. One was 16’ the other 19’. Both did a great job for me and I had both at shorter length than stock. I still have the 16’ in the bag and always will till it breaks. That club for me is automatic and I can get out of a lot of nasty rough or just smash it from the tee/fairway. Only real reason I got rid of the 19’ one is because honestly I wasn’t hitting it. So I’ve got a spot in my bag where I can put in a driving iron club or extra wedge depending on course.

I also have the F7 hybrid and it’s great too, i just can’t see any clubs helping me better than these two in these spots in my bag.

Baffler is a fitting name. I played this weekend with 2 guys that I know well, but don't play with often. My driver shaft broke on the 4th hole so it was a steady diet of the F6 Baffler off the tee the rest of the day. I listened to them argue for 3-4 holes about whether I was using a hybrid or a fairway wood before I finally explained to them that they were both right, lol. They were indeed very baffled.

I’m still loving mine. Replaced the nunchuck with a Motore Speeder 8.3 and playing it at 16* with the weight back. I might mess around with it at 16.5* for a little more launch off the deck.

The weight of the Nunchuk became too much towards the end of a really hot round of golf, and the lighter Speeder had made a big difference.

I almost bought a 2nd one to play at 19*, but my 19* Adams XTD Super Hybrid is such a reliable club. I can’t seem to find anything as good as it for that spot in the bag.

Fairway woods have easily been the most fickle club in the bag for me through many years of playing. I was a diehard v steel guy for over a decade, but I digress. This is the best fairway wood ever made. Everyone should own one! I have more confidence from 200 yards than I do from 140 at this point with these monsters in the bag.

I got one for $90 shipped off eBay new and put a $70 used Kal’li (sp?) and it’s point and shoot. It’s 18.5, weight back, and it probably flies 235, I’ve certainly hit it further but it’s a 230/40 club. Chipping it is 215/220. Very versatile. It does “look left” and I generally like everything open-ish, I’ve gotten over it. When something is 242 yards away and it feels automatic you get over the small things. Face isn’t super hot or anything, to me, but the couple of jobs it has, it does very well.

Quite the opposite. I’ve found this club to be perfect off the deck. Fairways, first cut, thick rough, divots this thing does it all. I’ve hit some stellar punch shots with it as well. Off the tee you can probably do better, but I hit mine really solid off the tee mist of the time as well.
