Modus 120TX vs. DG X100 - need quick responses por favor

Never tried the TX but much prefer the feel of the px 6.5’s, was a long time x100 player. The modus 120x feels great but to me still spins quite a bit. The px’s are spin killers.

I have gamed the x100's though it has been quite a few years, 120x, 120TX and 130x. I currently use the 130x and it is shockingly good. The 120x launched a bit lower but spun quite a bit too much for me and it felt too active more my liking. The 120TX was almost like a totally different shaft. It actually launched a bit higher than the 120x and spun a little less, the tip was very stiff and the kick, while coming from the same place as the X, the handle, it was much less pronounced and felt more stable, I had an easy time hitting cuts but it wasn't the most workable shaft and it didn't perform how I wanted on partial swings.

The 130x shocked me because it's not a profile I really expected to like. Softer tip. But I have total control over the shot shape and height. naturally it wants to go high, flat, and straight. It doesn't over spin and uses height to stop the ball, however I can easily hit it lower with a little more spin and hold even hard fast greens. I actually picked up a half club plus in distance going to the 130x and it's consistent useful distance. It holds up on hard swings without ballooning and it's receptive to partial swings.

If you havn't considered the 130's def. give those a look too, 120 looked better on paper for me but in practice the 130 performed much better for me.

I got fit recently, and will say get on a launch monitor... I got some interesting results that make sense on reflection but weren't what we expected. I had more spin on x shafts and my second lowest spinning shaft ended up being one with a reputation for adding spin.

I ended up in dg 120s which outperformed the c tapers... I expected to end up in c tapers.

I would suggest looking at Modus 125 X instead of the 120 TX. If it's an option, that is.

If you could find them, I'd point you at Super Peening Blue instead, but.... yeah. ;)

Yeah I actually had an option to go 125X which the guy said are the same profile to DG X100 just with Nippon feel. So that’s the direction I ended up going! I’ve tried Modus 130 before and liked them but weren’t perfect for me, so I’m excited to try these 125’s.

Some people love the PX feel others hate it. The Modus is the same but on the other side. It’s a softer feeling shaft...and it must be tried to know what that means. It’s not loose and it’s a great shaft, I actually prefer it to X100 but it’s a whole different feel. If you can demo one do it. You’ll either love it immediately or stick to the X100

Just curious, when you say they weren't perfect for you, what does that mean?

Don't do anything without getting onto a launch monitor! Nippons are unique and you really need to get acquainted with them, in my opinion.

I've always been an x100 player up till last year, I switched out to kbs c-taper 120 x. I tried the 120 tx recently and it felt a little empty to me. I'm not a big Nippon fan to begin with so I might be biased, plus it is really high launch for me. Try the kbs c-taper 120 if you are shopping to get around the x100.

I made the same switch this year too. The 125x is very nice and just a little smoother than X100.

Other than feel, how does the 125x compare to X100. I read that the 125X launches a little higher but spins less.

They were a pretty accurate shaft for me, but just wasn’t a bend profile that felt good to me. It felt more harsh than I was expecting and I had trouble spinning my longer clubs enough. Felt like across the board I lost distance with the 130X, but that easily could have been the heads I was using at the time and not only the shafts (I don’t remember what clubs they were in).

I am a x100 player. Had a 120tx and 120x in a 8 iron. I may go to the 120tx, seemed higher and less spin than the x100--I like the stiff tip of the 120tx while it somehow felt less harsh. You probably know the 120x has a much more loose feeling., I'd avoid that.

What is your Driver SS and are you a longer swinger or a more compact with an aggressive move? The AMT tour white X100 have me interested as well as the Nippon 125 and 120 TX

After some testing with the Modus 125X I’m not sure about them. I was launching X100 too high and I’m definitely launching the 125X higher than I’d like. If optimal height is like 90-110ft I’m probably 125-135ft, Jason Day height lol. Thinking about trying X7 or something lol.
