Srixon Z Star

Played the new Z Star yesterday. I was very surprised at the playability of this ball. If the honeymoon stays this will be my ball for this season. Great distance with all my clubs and works very well around the greens. Also a very nice feel of the putter.

I think the Z-Star line is pretty underrated at times when it comes to premium balls. I have a few sleeves of the Z-Star and the XV I want to give a try soon.

I switched from Tp5x to the new XV this year and haven't looked back. Dollar for dollar you'd be hard pressed to find a better ball, in my opinion.

Wind performance was why I went tp5x and the XV is better for me.

Just switched to the 2019 Z Star. 95mph with the driver, mid-high launch, mid-low spin player. Ball does everything I need it to do for my game, and it is a very good wind ball. So far, seems durable as well.

There's nothing lacking in either the Zstar or XV, I've been playing them for several years now and they don't take a back seat to anybody.

Pretty much what I saw yesterday. And has a good price point. For a real quality golf ball.

Watched some interesting videos on new Z models this weekend, seem very promising. How is the Z Star off the putter, marshmallowy at all? Looks like full shot performance is certainly there.

I found the new Z Star to be one of the firmer soft balls out there. I found the ball lacked pop which left me wondering if it’s too firm for my 100 mph driver/82 mph 7i swing speed.

Looks like Z Star is 90 compression and XV is 102. Interesting, knew XV was high but figured Z was lower. Really wanting to give these a try.

I've been playing last year's model for about a year, but have times gone back and forth with the XV. Both are great in the wind, I think the XV flies a bit higher, the Z is a bit flatter for me. I just prefer the feel of the Z to the XV, especially chipping and putting. The Z Star, at least last year's, was "just about right" for me, not too soft or too hard. I had come from the old Bridgestone B330S, and tried the new Tour XS, and it was just too mushy for me. I hope the 2019 Z Star is similar to the 2018, I have read it is just a bit higher in compression, and the new XV is a bit softer in feel. I will need to try both again this year.

Last year I developed a preference for the XV over the regular Z star, I think because the 2017 Z star had too much side spin for me on long-distance shots. Today I had the chance to compare the 2019 Z stars to the 2019 Z star XVs. Must say I'm pretty impressed with the regular Z star. Extraordinary feel around the green on putts, chips, pitches and full shots out to my 135 club. Performed great with the driver and hybrids. Now I'm sitting here with 4 dozen XV, wondering if I should have bought 4 dozen Z star!

There is no such thing. Compression relationship to swingspeed is vastly misunderstood. It's a non issue. We can all compress the firmer balls. Even short hitting/low swingspeed players.

 

Compression and feel is another story, of course.

Yeah, the Z Star is butter. It's my main ball. Does everything I could ever ask of it. Long off the driver, sweet around the greens. Feels dreamy with the irons.

The more I play it the more I agree with you. Really happy with the Z Star so far.

I’ve been playing the XV for three years now. Bought 20 dozen 2018’s on closeout for $20 a dozen last fall. No need to buy balls for about 3-4 years I’d guess.

Academy Sports is carrying 6 balls retail for $10.00 of both the Z star and XV - in white. They have a decent ball selection including Wilson balls.

As someone posted above, the Z-star has more sidespin, too?

In my experience, The XV is definitely a higher launching golf ball.

Yes, I would say the XV launches higher than the Z-Star.

I think I'm going to bring a few sleeves of Z-Star and the XV out to the course this weekend and test them out. Local golf stores still have stack of the previous version balls for $40CAD/dozen so if I enjoy them I may grab a few boxes but I'm really set for balls now. I don't think I'm going to make much of a dent.

I have a mid 90's swing speed and I prefer the XV over the regular one. To me it just feels better and maybe a bit firmer which I like off the putter face!

My son's been playing the Q Star Tour lately and I stole one from him...actually he left it in our cart when he and his mom left at the turn. Man...that Q Star Tour is a very good ball. Very workable. Possibly king of the bang-for-the-buck category...

Srixon Golf Balls are very underrated. They make some of the finest out there. Q Star Tour is a very fine golf ball. Glad you like the ball.

I am moving to one of these or maybe even both depending on conditions. I have been playing the TP5X for a year but just feels it lacks something around the greens. I also struggle with flighting my wedges lower with the TP5X. My son and I both are making this switch and are taking advantage of the Academy deal to stock up!

I absolutely love these balls Srixon Z-Star or XV are great, i play to about a 3 and All i can say is that from bouncing around between V1,V1x,TP5,TP5x, and Chrome Softs, is that these Srixon are on par or even might beat these balls in certain situations.

I found prior versions to be a little short off the irons for me, with a "heavy" feel.

Now they are touting them as longer/faster. Anybody think they are longer than prior iterations?
