If they play in any yes, I don’t believe a kid you get than high school age really needs to be playing 54 hole events. For all but a very small percentage it’s too much to handle mentally and less so physically

Didn't say he was playing in them.... lol.

Just what we consider major events. We had a great schedule from January to May and I had to withdraw from 8 events due to Sever's Disease.

I am GenX.  If you really think I care about what you have to say, I don't.

I forgot about the Bubba Conley as well. Huge event in Tennessee.

There are other big events out there, but are they really MAJORS???? Optimist used to be a great event and it isn't anymore and very poorly run.

I would add these events (if making a list), and personally would put them above the Bubba Conley:

Jones Cup Junior Invitational

Bobby Chapman

Scott Robertson

Southern Junior

And ... probably the Dustin Johnson World

And then at the very top, the AJGA Invitationals and Junior Invitational at Sage Valley

And for girls, the Kathy Whitworth (and probably others, but I don't have a girl so I don't know those as well).

The Gator Invitational in March is quickly getting there. It’s already ranked as significantly stronger than the Southern Junior and The Bubba. It’s right in line, strengthwise, with the Scott Robertson. The Dustin Junior World has very quickly become the 2nd strongest non-AJGA event behind Sage Valley.

Good points on the Gator Invitational and the Dustin Junior World!

Junior Golf here in New Zealand is pretty low key, big tournaments aren't common and often left to local clubs to organize. We've recently travelled to Australia to play in the US kids Australian Open and also are waiting on details of the New Zealand Open later in the year. So at this stage we look for any tournament that we can enter for the experience of playing competitive golf. We don't even have a local tour in our area so qualifying for Worlds is difficult!
